You are correct, but they can have their DRM stripped and then dowloaded later from a nefarious site or simply kept. Which is what I do with my wifes Kindle rented textbooks. Strip the DRM and keep a local copy for her after the rental period ends.
"As an aside, I would like to note that reselling your books is a scam anyway."
not really, I get a buttload of money from my wifes books every semester on Amazon.com, many times selling instantly for 80% of the purchase price, only a complete fool turns them into the bookstore.
Honestly, An I.T. degree? this should be an Electronics Engineering Degree with a minor in Computer Science. The fact there is such a thing as an I.T. degree makes me sad.
The other fact that the books do not get updated, makes me think the value of such a degree is invalid. IT books from just 6 years ago are 100% worthless today.
"If I put a sign on my lawn that says "anyone passing this sign can be detained indefinitely" does that make it so?"
Yes, if certain conditions are met.
You have enough guns and armed goons to enforce this. For example your local police has plenty of goons that happily violate citizen rights to enfirce unjust "laws" that have no more worth than a random sign posted on a street corner.
So if your local police has 10,000 cops, get 20,000 of your own and arm them with automatic weapons and body armor. Your local police will certainly back down as cowards and let you detain anyone you wish.
Any cop that does not uphold the constitution is a coward.
I fly group charter and return flight Corporate. It's the same price as a normal airline ticket. No, not the deep discount priceline prices. but I rarely get those as I cant book it months in advance.
Company sent 10 of us out to Vegas for a event, They wanted us to fly Delta. I saved the company $1500.00 on the tickets by chartering a small jet for us. Worked great, we brought a lot of booze and none of us went through any security checks. Hell I drove the minivan up to the airplane to unload luggage.
yes it takes more work to FIND the charters and fill them, but I already have a list of 5 companies that will give me a discount so I dont have to look hard.
Plus a Learjet from Chicago to Miami, from stepping out of the cab to waiting for the cab you called for when on approach, in 3 hours is worth every penny.
1 - there is electric infrastructure for these. even my podunk town has several electric car charging points. Problem is some moron in a Pickup truck or SUV is always parked in front of it. The city is doing a tow and impound on them starting this year, no tickets the police tow trucks just hook up and take your vehicle, so maybe that problem will fix it's self.
2 - The real problem is true range and price. They claim 150 miles, I am betting real world is 1/2 that. Also the real price is over $40,000 which makes it a toy for only the very rich.
Their website shows it's $40,798 for a BASE MODEL. Come on, if you guys at Slashdot are trying to act like journalists, at least get some of your facts right.
This car is a failure out of the gate. It's smaller than a honda civic and costs as much as a BMW 325i.
Cut the price in 1/2 and there is where it has a chance of selling.
I have NEVER found anyone that "loved" their blackberry. They were winning simply because they were the only game in town that offered enterprise secure email.
notice they started their nosedive when they handed over the keys to Saudia Arabia. Their claims of "uncrackable" went out the window.
The other nosedive started with Iphone 3s and CEO's started carrying them. they did not want to carry 2 phones, so they ditched the clunky crackberry. Once that happens, it's game over.
I did the exact same thing and went to the University of Michigan. You can go full time and work full time. A lot of young adults that dont have mommy or daddy pay their way do it every day. I had ZERO social life in school as I was either working, studying, or attending class or lab. My only friends that I spent any time with were room mates, once a week I would have about an hour to sit down and have a beer or two before bed.
Formal education is the only education that has any value....
Anyone else sick of encountering this kind of thinking?
Experience is worth FAR MORE than education. Yet I see a lot of jobs with a BS/BA degree requirement that have zero need for such a thing. For example Advertising sales position, WTF does that need a BS for?
Luckily I dont have to deal with it, but I rarely see a new grad with a nice shiny new CS degree that can actually do the job.
This same moron will say that Polyamory is also a "mental defect" yet humans are actually wired for it and only until the past 500 years have we been forced into monogamy by the church.
I'm also betting the guy things the earth is 6000 years old, and Noah built a big boat all by himself.
Not much. Everything I put in a cloud service is encrypted in a truecrypt volume. Even if they are sold to the highest bidder, or inspected by a marxist government they are useless to anyone but me.
This is why I ignore any claims of "security" any cloud service has. the ONLY real security is the security you control, everything else is fake.
Why? not because of HDMI.... Because of the worthless HDCP that is designed to make life miserable.
HDCP keys, handshakes, etc all make hdmi distribution expensive. The low grade dog food stuff does not do Key caching and management.
And god help you if you want to do a hdmi matrix. the ONLY company that has one that works is Crestron. Their DM switchers are the ONLY choice for a 16X16 or larger Hdmi switching that works.

"IT degree"
This saddens me.

If this is true, then why does congress not call for the arrest and imprisonment of all TSA employees involved in the incident?

"My point is that one can refuse the pat-down and leave."
no you cant. you have to do what they tell you or get arrested. if they ALLOW you to leave then you can.
Then dont fly commercial.

you are correct. the "fraidycat" american way is popular.
The TSA has not caught ONE terrorist. They are 100% ineffective and needs to be removed as an expense that the american people do not need to carry.
Actually no.

GM,Ford and Chrysler are last in "USA made"
Just like every GM car made.
You want american made? Buy Toyota or Honda.

3 - you are 100% correct here.
The leaf has less than a 70 mile range. this has been proven everywhere. These guys are claiming 150 mile range.

College certainly does not teach you to be a ," well-rounded, reasonable, thinking adult person. "
Want proof? Look at every single person who graduated with a Business management degree.

Someone needs to go down with the ship. Bet you he has a nice golden parachute to go with his suicide ride.
I loved those questions. My answer was always , "No it will fail dangerously, you had better give it to me so I can dispose of it safely"
I had in my office 3 toasters and other assorted silly things all tagged with the big red "NOT Y2K SAFE" sticker on them.

Yes they have, Steve Ballmer is the worlds best known lesbian CEO. It's amazing how good a job she does. ....
Wait, ballmer is a dude? When did that happen?

It's not that HDMI or DVI sucks... it's the HDCP that sucks.
Remove HDCP and digital video becomes a dream.
In fact that is the best thing to do, buy and install HDCP strippers at every source point and all switching and routing issues disappear.
But I cant do that, It's illegal in the usa. Soon you get to spend life in gitmo for even telling someone that such a device exists.
HDMI sucks.
