Yuck. I just have uTorrent grab them automatically from my RSS feed with filters for the show I want. Took me 20 minutes to set up. I spend 6.2 seconds a week maintaining it, all my TV shows just magically appear.
Find a Better TV show RSS feed. Mine never had bad quality rips or are mis labelled. Hack most are on the net 30 minutes after the show airs. I swear some of those guys have an automatic setup with MythTV recording, commercial cutting and then assembling the torrent and seeding.
No it's not. I can rent them for far cheaper. 99.997% of all DVD's are only worth watching once. Or borrow them.. I've done that a lot. Problem is Hollywood wants to make that illegal as well.
Their streaming is nothing different than the DVD rental biz. They are making money. Dont fool yourself.
Hulu unfortunately allowed themselves to get sucked into the sociopath world of TV networks. Tv networks are notorious for being psychotic and plain old nutcases about the "value" of their content. $3.00 for 22 minutes of Southpark is $2.75 too much Unless it's in HD without ANY commercials and I get to keep a digital copy forever, then it's worth $1.50
They dont understand that. They CANT understand that. They WONT understand that. They want $3.00 for that 22 minutes plus FORCED ad's all over in it at 320X240 and badly compressed.
They are on drugs, and I simply torrent what I want and get it in the quality I want for free. I'll gladly pay for a single streaming price of $0.25 for a 1/2 hour show without commercials at all. Less if the quality is not DVD quality. More if I want to keep it and in HD.
And now I read this nonsense about Michigan and other states giving exclusive monopolies to Comcast and other megacorps. Unbelievable.
This has went on for decades. When CableTV started in the 70's it was done to make community TV setups illegal.
WE had a Community TV when I grew up. the neighborhood had a single 200 foot tower with a gob of antennas and the whole neighborhood was wired with coax. it worked great. we paid $50.00 a year for it and got over 13 channels clear as day.
TCI cable came into town and after they got set up they signed a franchise contract with the city. The city then deemed our community TV system a business and forced it to either be torn down or pay $50,000 a year to the city for a franchise fee.
Thus making it illegal by making the cost excessive.
the contract is in effect until there is competition, until then the Monopoly shall follow the terms of the contract.
Comcast did this to protect themselves by making the cost of entry for competition to detroit (and other communities) very expensive. In some places like my home town it's actually "illegal" for me to start my own cable company as it is in the franchise contract.
Learn about Franchise contracts, and fight against them.
It's called "public performance" and yes plain old FM radio counts. Please READ the ASCAP/BMI rules carefully, asthey are insanely restricted and ridiculously one sided. They also start at $1000.00 per infraction and ALWAYS get multiple infractions. Even an extortion "fine" of $1000 can put a small business out of business.
PLUS their rules change if you sell alcohol of any kind, they can even demand a percentage of all your profits.
ASCAP fines you if the radio can be heard outside the employee area, and they typically can make crap up just like how the BSA does during audits because all of their "infractions" are relative and based on what the investigator thinks or wants. They do not use any scientific methids.
I have seen ASCAP extortion at work, many new businesses get an ASCAP extortion letter before they open.
The post I responded to said that a small business owner could be fined tens of thousands of dollars and be put out of business by turning on a portable radio behind the counter.
Only because I'm cheap. Only the truely insane is happy paying the prices bars charge. Plus you dont got here for conversation... you cant hear the person setting next to you over the grunge punk band that has only a drummer and a bass guitar.
who heartily enjoy the company of others, INCLUDING the company of strangers. Some of them even read Slashdot!
I actually like them Strange.... I see out the wierdows to talk to.
One of my favorite friends is a Thumbless short bald guy that is a Neo-anarchist anti Corperation Multiple PHD holding out of work professor that loves a good debate/argument about nearly anything. I can blow 12 hours talking to him and drinking scotch. although by the time we finish a 1/2 a bottle the conversation get's really wierd.
AT&T sells a device that acts as a cell tower in your home, sends your calls through the internet... They charge you $199.00 for this wonderful device.
ASCAP is built on lies and bullying. How many small businesses have been put out of business because of ASCAP and BMI coming in and fining them tens of thousands of dollars because they had an FM radio playing for the customers.
Yes, If your business has an FM radio playing then you are a DIRTY STINKING MUSIC THIEF and you must be punished.
This is how scumbaggy ASCAP is. Every person alive should hate and despise them.
I do. It's because changing how things are designed reduces profits. If you can half-arse the job and simply replace the IC engine with an electric one you increase your profits far more than actually paying engineers and retooling to make the car right.
It's all about profit, doing it right is not even on the list. It's on the "we should do this" list.
The ONLY way to get a real electric car that is designed right is to either pass laws forcing the engineering change, or to finance the change.
Yes you can IF you use capacitors. Design it right and you can charge a capacitor bank in 30 seconds. it takes 5 minutes to fuel a car. if they designed it right, you could pull into a charging pad, swipe the card, it's charged and drive off. Gas station fillups would be faster than a toll booth.
Bahhhh....
It's better to have the warm comfy blanket of fake security than the silly freedom thing that I never use...
Now shut up, the next show on the telly is starting....
Bahhhhhh...... Bahhhhhhh!
No they dont.
They like Free with Ad's. They also like Paid with no ad's.
What they dont want is the corporate greed of double dipping... Here's your Premium content with some ADS!
It's called honest pricing. Most people will buy something at an honest price.
Yuck. I just have uTorrent grab them automatically from my RSS feed with filters for the show I want. Took me 20 minutes to set up. I spend 6.2 seconds a week maintaining it, all my TV shows just magically appear.

Your understanding is horribly off base.
Their streaming is nothing different than the DVD rental biz. They are making money. Dont fool yourself.

3G iphones still got for over $225.00 on ebay and craigs list used.
No it did not. you never learned US history did you.
The Us revolution was to make a bunch of rich guys here no longer pay taxes back to GB. Nothing more.
It was not about freedom, it was not about anything but greed and power.
And now I read this nonsense about Michigan and other states giving exclusive monopolies to Comcast and other megacorps. Unbelievable.

It's just like every other franchise contract.
the contract is in effect until there is competition, until then the Monopoly shall follow the terms of the contract.

Then it's time some currently unemployed, enterprisey wireless technician starts a small company that resolves these conflicts.
The gu cant afford a $99.00 WiSpy, what makes you think he will afford the $99.00 charge from a guy doing this?
I certainly would not drive to someones house and spend an hour doing that with my special gear for less than that.

No it did not. You ASSUMED that.
You are not trying unless you moved to Salt lake city....
Into gaming? Find the local gaming shops and ask about tournaments and start playing.
Into computers? User groups.
Into RC planes? find that group at hobby shops.
Etc... If you try you can find like interest people. Join the Rotary club, Masons if you like the illuminati (joking), Toastmasters, etc......

That would be via Chat Roulette!
Stop buying consumer junk.
Hitachi Cable WirelessIP5000 decent quality 802.11 SIP phone.
works great, good battery life that works all day IF you are in a solid wifi signal all day.
AT&T sells a device that acts as a cell tower in your home, sends your calls through the internet... They charge you $199.00 for this wonderful device.
and then charge you to use it.
Isn't that nice of them?
Michigan Tech. Near lake superior in the Great White north wastelands that is known as the UP around these parts.
Awesome college in the middle of nowhere. Just bring your tuke, a taste for pasties, and get used to ending every sentence with eh?
Yes, I'm a hoser knob troll... Take off eh?
It's not that phone is crap. I had one and unless its on it's charger for 90% of the time, it dies.
Bad phone, garbage design. Useless for a phone you carry away from the charger across a campus.

semi trucks have brakes. And the drivers tend to be better trained at driving than the car driver.
Note: europe is FULL of slow low power cars. They dont have this problem you imagine.
