I carry around my 17" laptop AND a 13" tablet. In meetings I use the tablet, plus I can do easy markup of a customers blueprints with them looking on and making their own notes directly to the screen, then email off a copy to them and the engineer.

I tend to steal a lot of contracts from the dweebs that only carry around a tiny light laptop.

The problem is that newpapers are completely dead, the body simply has not stopped moving.

I can get my news HOURS after it has happened or get it from my various RSS feeds seconds to minutes afterwards. Plus I get to filter it to have only what I want.

Short of puppy training, wrapping dishes, and for poop paper for a bird cage, a newspaper has ZERO value. Even web based they are slow to react and usually are only repeating what I have already read from the various feeds I have.

There is no way to save the newspaper business. Ebooks might if the media companies get off their asses and not only publish a daily release but also update it's contents every 15 minutes.

The number of dealers to go and buy an Amiga from were very low. Even if you wanted to have them in your business it was easier to get a IBM or apple.

But this is a trend even in Xbox360 games. The new Mass Effect 2 does this. in order to even play the game you have to register with easports.com (in game they link to your xbox live account info) and it sends a lot of info there as you play. Plus the game has turned from a great cinematic experience to a "you have to buy all this crap" in order to have the good gear fest.

It's down loadable content whore out to the extreme. $60.00 for the game and another $240.00 to actually have the whole game after you buy all the crap that the game should have came with.

and It's only going to get worse.
