    Declare you are setting up a private police force to clean up the corruption, horribly gruesome wipe out several of the top dirty cops and the rest will fall in line.

    Hughesnet is the ONLY choice for high speed and yous lowest ping is 3000ms. yes 3 freaking seconds is the Shortest ping you will ever get.
    Also the bandwidth you pay for it really cloudy. they cant explain why my data transfer counters don't match theirs some months they are higher than me by 2gb.

    So in order to make sure you don't go over you have to pay for the highest bandwidth plan they have. Which if you can't swallow a $299 a month internet bill, then it's game over for your at home business.

    Also remote access screen control via hughesnet is insanely painful, I do it regularly, but everything takes 10X more time.

    IOT is a fail because of manufacturers.

    For example, ZigBee connected light bulbs, GE Link, Cree Connected, and Phillips Hue all use their OWN modified protocol. First the use the ZLL protocol instead of the ZHA that they should be using, then they refuse to repeat signals for other brands. So you have some cheap Cree bulbs in entryways and hallways, but have the expensive white color temperature bulbs for elsewhere... Oh they don't mesh, sorry. They also don't mesh with your other devices so you have a horribly broken and fractured mess that barely works.

    IoT is an epic fail because we don't have a group of people going to different manufacturers with a sack of rocks and beating the shit out of executives and head engineers. I blame ZigBee and Z-Wave for not forcing companies at gunpoint to follow a freaking standard, but the engineers and executives made the decision to be assholes and intentionally be incompatible.

    Yep, creepy as in it listens for high frequency tones as binary to set up the wifi info, it's a very cool design.

    Yep. I ripped out the BMW navigation in my X3 and replaced it with a Garmin. Heck BMW europe even has a special tray to replace the flip up in dash display with a garmin mount so it looks stock and has power right there from the car.

    900X better, FREE LIFETIME MAPS AND TRAFFIC instead of the $225 per year for the craptastic update disks from BMW.

    More than that. you get a button, a nice plastic case already finished and is all set up for battery use. absolutely worth it in every way. Plus the microphone on it makes it easy to do the same audible configuration they use.

    I just hope they dont realize that the 4 I bought will never be pushed to buy their products. I already have one triggering events on my Linux server, and soon to have the rest acting as remotes for home automation.

    No it wont. Panasonic toughbooks and a gajillion other devices use a simple tapered slot with a tapered pen and work perfectly without the pen falling out. Plus it's impossible to jam the pen in backwards.

    Stop defending bad engineering, It's a bad design that had zero testing to see if the general public would screw it up.

    Nope. That is ALREADY done on broadcast TV and devices can filter out those ad's. my MythTV box strips out every single TV commercial that is spliced into the content.

    College level should be 100% free to citizens in the USA, there is no reason at all to have to charge for classes up to associates, and it should be inexpensive to get to bachelors and beyond.

    No the dean does not deserve $980,000 a year salary, he doesn't do shit. If you want to pay the coach well, base his salary on ticket sales for games.

    No you dont. NOBODY sends excel spreadsheets and raw DOC files around. This has always been the biggest straw man argument, it just does not happen.

    When I get a contract from Company XYZ, It's a PDF it is not a DOCX. When Vendor ZZT sends me the latest catalog and price list, its a PDF file not a spreadsheet.

    It is this way in 95% of the business world. nobody sends raw editable document files around.
