  1. Don't tell them... on Salary Negotiation for an IT Position? · · Score: 1

The answer is quite simple. It's none of their business what you currently make. Tell them what salary it will take to get you to come to work there, and negotiate as needed. That way you get a raise, and they get a good cheap employee.

  2. Telco company on Australia's largest telco to be split · · Score: 0, Redundant

By definition, a telco is a telephone or telecommunications company. So a telco company would be a telecommunications company company. Sort of like the PPP protocol or an ATM machine.

  3. Who gives a fuck? on Kernel 2.6.12 Released · · Score: -1, Flamebait

I'm not going to take the time to read the changelog, because I'm sure it says the same shit that it has said for years. Linux is great and all, hell, I use it all the time. But you gives a fuck that a minor number revision has come out? And if you have been sitting here, waiting for this posting on /. so that you can get your rocks off, then you need a life. Hell, I need a life since I have nothing better to do than this shit. Mod me down. Fuck, just delete this altogether.

  6. How about Crossover Office on IBM Wants to Port Office to Linux · · Score: 5, Interesting

How about Crossover Office by CodeWeavers. You can run the full Office suite including Outlook and Access. It works VERY VERY well. Better than running on Windows actually.

  7. Why is Linux different? on Expose Metacity With Expocity · · Score: 1

If we all saw a features page for Longhorn today and it included this feature, everyone on here would be going on about how Microsoft can't innovate and how bad they suck for ripping off Mac. But when Linux does the exact same thing as Mac, and even makes the name similar, we all go, "Well, that's cool." WTF!!! This "community" that we have going here blows!! That's why I use a Mac and not this pointy hatted Linux shit. It used to be cool to use Linux, not it's just fucking annoying....

  16. Too much media coverage... on BIND Security Info For "Members Only"? · · Score: 1

I can understand where they are coming from. There was wayyyy too much general public coverage of the bug in BIND. When you go to foxnews.com and the major headline is a bug in BIND, then something has gotten out of whack. It's like leaving your house unlocked and putting a big sign in your yard to let everyone know about it. All the script kiddies who didn't know about the security hole, surely knew after the major news services picked it up. Something needs to change, but I'm not sure if this is the right approach to take.
