    You need to seriously change what schools you recruit from. Many schools focus on hardware. I changed majors later on, but my first 2 years of college were all electronics, C, assembly, PLD's, Micro controllers Interfaces, Asynchronous state machines, etc..

    Stop trying to cram/retrain software developers into something they were not trained for.

    Mine is in a manual, cost probably around $200 installed. It has two sensors.. If the hood is up, the engine will not start (for if you're leaning into the engine bay, and bump your keys), and the other is on the E-brake. If my ebrake is not set, it will not start. I had to sign some disclaimers, promising not to sue if I left it in gear, with the ebrake on.

    It also runs on ARM cpu's, which are not nearly as closed. Keep in mind that both Intel and AMD are very dedicated to giving out as many specs and features as they can document, so that developers will write code that will run very efficeniently on them. If only other companies, like NVidia (and well, AMD with their buying ATI) would do the same.

    And of course, why do individuals who know what they are doing have no way to pay or file with the IRS directly? I should be able to submit my 1040 electronically for free, from the IRS.gov website. Instead, I have to go to a 3rd party, where my income levels dictate I have to pay, even though I know what I need. That is just protectionism..

    No, the OP is right. We are spending Record Peacetime Levels. All funding for the wars that we are currently in, come from supplemental and emergency budgets. Basically, we pay for our normal military costs, and borrow to pay for the wars. It was determined that it would be politically bad to ask for the money upfront, in a normal budget, because then the "other" party could talk about how much was getting spent. (remember when I guy got asked to resign, for saying the Iraq war could cost upwards of 150Billion!!)

    Just out of curiosity, I would love to check if my state is compliant.. How does one use NSLookup or DIG to check?? is it just a txt field, like looking for an SPF key?

    Of course, to fully check I would have to check the keys from .Gov, then the key from the domain, so do either tool have the capability to "walk the tree"?

    On a side note, Oregon State University in Corvallis, OR, and Reed College, in Portland, OR, both have reactors on campus. the Reed college one, you don't have to be in an engineering program to use it!

    I kinda agree.. This puts Oracle right up against HP, and IBM. Both of which have huge consulting, sell hardware, services, and their own databases, as well as selling others if its needed.

    Forgot to mention that Sprints unlimited plan is much less than other providers, even still, and they have had it for a year.. (nice of ATT and Verizion to have Unlimted talk and data, but not text!)

    The Only reason I left Sprint was because the house I was renting had no coverage. It was in the middle of a depression, out in the boonies, so it was understandable.. I went with USCellular, a much smaller company (#6) but they have free incoming calls and texts. But, they have no data network really, and old, not as fun phones.. which I'm fine with.

    Honestly, I agree with you.. I have been an Ubuntu user, completely wiping away my windows boot partition about 3 years ago. Love it.. Except, I just moved cross country.. Suddenly, I want to use my webcam, to stay in touch with my family. Now that I've had a baby, they REALLY want to use the webcam with me! My whole family uses MSN messenger. I have yet to find a good, reliable, working solution, other than grab my Wife's laptop running Vista and MSN Messenger (yes, i've tried AMSN, and koepete or whatever its called, and mercury, none of them really work for decent amounts of time).. I guess I could try to move my family and friends over to another tool, but what a pain...

    (ever notice how when the last administration was in, certain people got mad, and corrected you that "It is PRESIDENT Bush", and those same people call our current president by his last name, or even worse, his first-middle-last.. Even if you don't respect the person, you have to respect the position, damnit. During the Campain, President Clinton came to my small town.. Some people wrote in nasty editorials about referring to him as President, when our President was PRESIDENT Bush. the newspaper had to explain that president is a title for life, and that its actually encoded into law somewhere...)

    The new Thinkpads that my office has been getting has Displayport on the back of the laptops, and docking stations. Of course, Lenovo doesn't make a monitor with displayport under something like 24".

    and of course, was it an over-reaction, or were we prepared? I saw people at my workplace washing and sanitizing their hands like crazy. Nobody coughs in their hands anymore, but in their sleeve. Maybe, just maybe, all the fearmongering, all the news, made people change their behaviors,and the highest risk people get the vaccine, and it stopped things.

    You know, like those dumbshits that think Y2K was a joke, and nothing would have happened. Billions were spent to make sure it didnt.

    Except for printing.. 64bit windows 7 doesn't seem to like printing to shared printers running off a 32-bit, server 2003 system. I hear if you don't change the default printer name, it works better, but with larger offices, you have to. I can't have 8 printers all named "HP Laserjet 4515 series"
