Well the first thing you need to clarify is this: If you aren't smart enough to research it and figure it out for yourself, to hit the door, you are in the wrong place.
Second with that said, share a few pearls of wisdom with them. Not a lot, so that you don't bore them. Then you open it up for Q and A.
One pearl you can share is that networking is most important, and I don't mean with computers, but people. People resource management is key to success in projects. You need a team of people to get stuff done. If you can't be a good chief then be a good Indian; but by all means, be apart of the "tribe" and pull your weight and help the others as much as you can.
Second; specialize, but try to be a jack of all trades. You will never be master of all of them, but it sure doesn't hurt to try. But ultimately pick one aspect and shine at it, but don't fall out of touch with "the big picture".
Contracts, get to know them, know yours, if you don't have one at the moment, and you are working, something is damn wrong. It's a fast moving industry, in fact humanity has never seen anything that moves like this. Traditional thinking of "lets buy the expensive house with the pretty wife and make a nest" can be like throwing a boat anchor with a chain on it behind you as you are trying to run. You need to be nimble and mobile, but if you find something good, don't be stupid, drop anchor and set up camp.
The military AFTER you have some school isn't such a bad idea. Get as much rank as you can from the start from your education. Go for an MOS, (Military Occupational Skill) that is marketable and lucrative in today's world environment. Get the training you want/need and make some contacts, then bounce out to the private sector where the real money is. That is unless you really dig what you do in the Military and the perks are priceless, or if you think you might have "moral conundrums" working in those fields in the private sector.
Ultimately, the big cheese, the moola, the fat bags of cash, are when you are the boss. Think beyond being another drone, think about being an industrialist or founder of your own company. You then have to be "large and in charge", and do the heavy lifting when it comes to the thinking and making decisions. It sounds sexy and exciting, but it's not for everyone obviously. There is a lot to be said about just enjoying a decent job that pays the bills and having time to have a family and/or to just goof off.
Lastly, the world doesn't owe you a damn thing. Just because you have an education, doesn't mean the world is going to beat a path to your door because you are a "genius they can't live without." Recognize opportunities and capitalize on them. Make your own opportunities if they aren't floating by you at the moment.

What I particularly didn't care for in Food Inc was the guy that had the machine that sifted out the seeds so that a farmer could grow his own seeds to replant and all of the shit he was going through from Monsanto. Even if they had their own strain and it got cross pollinated from someone nearby they were burned with patent violations. Also the whole chicken farms ordeal, and how cattle end up in so much filth didn't strike me very well either. I am sure there were some things you could take issue with in that documentary, but to throw it all out seems a bit questionable.

I seriously hate what you said about your university. Two gripes I have with universities: a. they are overran by athletics, which in my opinion have no damn place in academia. I am in a CC at the moment, (ha, no surprise, huh) and I am working with 3D CAD programs of 2011 on Windows XP computers. I do my best work at home on my personal computer because it's a beast compared to what's at school. But if our baseball team needed them, I feel they would be the top of the line models. I find sports to be some twisted neolithic voyeuristic narcissism. They drag in ball players from all over, and most of them can't speak English, how are they suppose to keep any kind of a grade? One "star athlete" from NY was in my speech class, but I only seen him once. He got a pass I am sure. If the teachers don't bow to the wishes of these coaches and keep these idiots in grades they don't deserve, I am sure they can be fired.
We wonder why we are falling so far behind the rest of the world when our focus is on sports. Seriously, how does knocking a damn ball around promote the welfare and development of our country. Don't anyone give me any bullshit about "we need a diversion", or entertainment.
B. Our focus on education is down right comically full of stupidity and fail. Our universities and colleges should be the focal points of our communities. Social experiences and education should revolve around them. All education should be public, if you have the ability, it should be cultivated. How many geniuses in God knows how many areas are pissed away because of an education system that not only fails to recognize and cultivate them, but the damn greedy money system involved makes it for the privileged at certain levels. Sure there is funding, but you have to beat the bushes with a machete to find it. We need education about education and that seems to be full of damn fail at the lower levels.
I probably sound like a socialist, but I am not, I guess I am a hybrid between socialism and capitalism. There are two things that drive labor costs up through the roof so that we can't have the industry we need here. One is education, we simply aren't producing the minds we need. Two is health care. The health care industry from top to bottom is raping us. I feel we would save money socializing it and education. We should tie the two together, and hand out patents to help fund them both. Meaning if the education system develops a medicine, they patent it and license it to be produced. Someone then cranks out the pills, makes some money and pays their license. We get cheaper medicine, the education/health system makes some money and everyone gets health care. Industry isn't burdened with messing with it. I think it would fight inflation. All around, I think these are two monster industries that need thrown under the damn socialism bus for the good of everyone.

My big question is can we ever truly socialize medicine in the Western societies? Will there always be big pharmaceutical corporations lurking around to get rich off of the human condition? Is greed the only driving factor of progress? While I am at it, I really feel that patenting genes of any kind is all kinds of wrong. Unless you altered a gene or found a way to repair it, as on a low level in the structure of it, I think it's arrogance at its finest to claim a patent on such things.
My case in point is how Monsanto patented life in their seeds, and now dominate the markets. Watch Food Inc. to get the gist of that nightmare. When it comes to patents of science, I don't trust them. Our systems are full of corruption that are too vulnerable to corporate influence. If it's not corruption, then its blatant ignorance and down right stupidity. I got a feeling as we advance in biotech science, we are going to be vulnerable to exploitation by some seriously bad elements that will capitalize on the "lawlessness of the frontier". This is how robber barons get established early on and we are never rid of their ilk, as their institutions, corporations and heirs continue to reap the benefits or just have an unfair head start on the competition, or a combination of both.
Multinational corporations can bypass our "moral" impediments here by doing their research in Europe. But can we trust Europe to keep an intelligent eye on them for the sake of all humanity? I would like to hope so, but....time will tell.

But in churning out these masses, we fail to sift out real talent and it only becomes an anomaly when it struggles to the surface. These days, with the system in place, it almost has to be malcontent also in its demeanor in order to struggle to the top when it's in a lower cast.
Let's couple the financial aspect of catastrophic success into this equation. You have one human element that shines brightly and is rewarded enough that his/her offspring are placed into top tier casts even though they are there by not one iota of merit of their own other than being born into the right family. This perpetuates the wrong kind of people in positions of power and influence. This I believe causes us to stagnate, and that we don't have the luxury of doing. We have too many people and far too few resources. The scarcity problem can't be satisfied and hence the fear factor brings about wars of various kinds.
Now some would argue that wars are productive in a "Darwinian" sense and instill a sense of competition, but I say this is madness at this point in our development. We have the technology to advance ourselves much further and off the planet and our competition should be the cosmos itself. The math of probabilities are against us as a species if we again keep all of our eggs in one basket.
I find it frustrating that we have so much potential before us, yet we fail to be excited by it and cling to the comforts of "no heavy lifting" when it comes to thought and efforts into the unknown. It's like trying to shove people out of tents into houses, or out of Model Ts into a modern sports car. We need to keep evolving and pushing the envelope.

The first step to correct this is to get control of our politicians back into the hands of the people, and out of the hands of the mega rich and the multinational corporations. This involves campaign finance reform, but that hasn't happened, in fact its went the other direction. It's now even easier to buy politicians with the changes to PACs.
The second step is to correct all of the crooked trade policies and laws that stack the deck in favor of specific corporations and industries, allowing them effective monopolies.

Go buy some Tupperware, or be a Jew and save "butter" containers and stuff like that to freeze leftovers in. Next, look for shit you want to cook. Figure out what ingredients you will need. Place them on something called a "shopping list". You get off of work and go to something called a Super Market. Get a cart and find all the shit on your list and buy it. Take it home, put it away.
Find time, and cook up a meal. Dole out the portions into your containers and don't set and eat it out of the pans like a pig. Freeze the shit. Well the first thing you need to clarify is this: If you aren't smart enough to research it and figure it out for yourself, to hit the door, you are in the wrong place.
Second with that said, share a few pearls of wisdom with them. Not a lot, so that you don't bore them. Then you open it up for Q and A.
One pearl you can share is that networking is most important, and I don't mean with computers, but people. People resource management is key to success in projects. You need a team of people to get stuff done. If you can't be a good chief then be a good Indian; but by all means, be apart of the "tribe" and pull your weight and help the others as much as you can.
Second; specialize, but try to be a jack of all trades. You will never be master of all of them, but it sure doesn't hurt to try. But ultimately pick one aspect and shine at it, but don't fall out of touch with "the big picture".
Contracts, get to know them, know yours, if you don't have one at the moment, and you are working, something is damn wrong. It's a fast moving industry, in fact humanity has never seen anything that moves like this. Traditional thinking of "lets buy the expensive house with the pretty wife and make a nest" can be like throwing a boat anchor with a chain on it behind you as you are trying to run. You need to be nimble and mobile, but if you find something good, don't be stupid, drop anchor and set up camp.
The military AFTER you have some school isn't such a bad idea. Get as much rank as you can from the start from your education. Go for an MOS, (Military Occupational Skill) that is marketable and lucrative in today's world environment. Get the training you want/need and make some contacts, then bounce out to the private sector where the real money is. That is unless you really dig what you do in the Military and the perks are priceless, or if you think you might have "moral conundrums" working in those fields in the private sector.
Ultimately, the big cheese, the moola, the fat bags of cash, are when you are the boss. Think beyond being another drone, think about being an industrialist or founder of your own company. You then have to be "large and in charge", and do the heavy lifting when it comes to the thinking and making decisions. It sounds sexy and exciting, but it's not for everyone obviously. There is a lot to be said about just enjoying a decent job that pays the bills and having time to have a family and/or to just goof off.
Lastly, the world doesn't owe you a damn thing. Just because you have an education, doesn't mean the world is going to beat a path to your door because you are a "genius they can't live without." Recognize opportunities and capitalize on them. Make your own opportunities if they aren't floating by you at the moment.
If this is too much for you to comprehend, don't stress it. Go deliver pizza, do bong hits and play your games.
What I particularly didn't care for in Food Inc was the guy that had the machine that sifted out the seeds so that a farmer could grow his own seeds to replant and all of the shit he was going through from Monsanto. Even if they had their own strain and it got cross pollinated from someone nearby they were burned with patent violations. Also the whole chicken farms ordeal, and how cattle end up in so much filth didn't strike me very well either. I am sure there were some things you could take issue with in that documentary, but to throw it all out seems a bit questionable.

Why aren't universities that main source of seeds? Shouldn't they be the driving force behind research and be the ones holding patents that they fairly control with a wee touch of oversight to keep them fair? Wouldn't it be a great way to raise funding for them?
I seriously hate what you said about your university. Two gripes I have with universities: a. they are overran by athletics, which in my opinion have no damn place in academia. I am in a CC at the moment, (ha, no surprise, huh) and I am working with 3D CAD programs of 2011 on Windows XP computers. I do my best work at home on my personal computer because it's a beast compared to what's at school. But if our baseball team needed them, I feel they would be the top of the line models. I find sports to be some twisted neolithic voyeuristic narcissism. They drag in ball players from all over, and most of them can't speak English, how are they suppose to keep any kind of a grade? One "star athlete" from NY was in my speech class, but I only seen him once. He got a pass I am sure. If the teachers don't bow to the wishes of these coaches and keep these idiots in grades they don't deserve, I am sure they can be fired.
We wonder why we are falling so far behind the rest of the world when our focus is on sports. Seriously, how does knocking a damn ball around promote the welfare and development of our country. Don't anyone give me any bullshit about "we need a diversion", or entertainment.
B. Our focus on education is down right comically full of stupidity and fail. Our universities and colleges should be the focal points of our communities. Social experiences and education should revolve around them. All education should be public, if you have the ability, it should be cultivated. How many geniuses in God knows how many areas are pissed away because of an education system that not only fails to recognize and cultivate them, but the damn greedy money system involved makes it for the privileged at certain levels. Sure there is funding, but you have to beat the bushes with a machete to find it. We need education about education and that seems to be full of damn fail at the lower levels.
I probably sound like a socialist, but I am not, I guess I am a hybrid between socialism and capitalism. There are two things that drive labor costs up through the roof so that we can't have the industry we need here. One is education, we simply aren't producing the minds we need. Two is health care. The health care industry from top to bottom is raping us. I feel we would save money socializing it and education. We should tie the two together, and hand out patents to help fund them both. Meaning if the education system develops a medicine, they patent it and license it to be produced. Someone then cranks out the pills, makes some money and pays their license. We get cheaper medicine, the education/health system makes some money and everyone gets health care. Industry isn't burdened with messing with it. I think it would fight inflation. All around, I think these are two monster industries that need thrown under the damn socialism bus for the good of everyone.

No modifying the germ line of humans? Interesting subject after briefly reading about it, it was the one thing you mentioned that made me go "huh..?" Personally I think we should tamper with these things, but we shouldn't make it exclusive to any particular entity until we iron out all of the scientific bugs and have a complete understanding of it so that the field is level as far as commercial or mass production.

My big question is can we ever truly socialize medicine in the Western societies? Will there always be big pharmaceutical corporations lurking around to get rich off of the human condition? Is greed the only driving factor of progress? While I am at it, I really feel that patenting genes of any kind is all kinds of wrong. Unless you altered a gene or found a way to repair it, as on a low level in the structure of it, I think it's arrogance at its finest to claim a patent on such things.
My case in point is how Monsanto patented life in their seeds, and now dominate the markets. Watch Food Inc. to get the gist of that nightmare. When it comes to patents of science, I don't trust them. Our systems are full of corruption that are too vulnerable to corporate influence. If it's not corruption, then its blatant ignorance and down right stupidity. I got a feeling as we advance in biotech science, we are going to be vulnerable to exploitation by some seriously bad elements that will capitalize on the "lawlessness of the frontier". This is how robber barons get established early on and we are never rid of their ilk, as their institutions, corporations and heirs continue to reap the benefits or just have an unfair head start on the competition, or a combination of both.
Multinational corporations can bypass our "moral" impediments here by doing their research in Europe. But can we trust Europe to keep an intelligent eye on them for the sake of all humanity? I would like to hope so, but....time will tell.

But in churning out these masses, we fail to sift out real talent and it only becomes an anomaly when it struggles to the surface. These days, with the system in place, it almost has to be malcontent also in its demeanor in order to struggle to the top when it's in a lower cast.
Let's couple the financial aspect of catastrophic success into this equation. You have one human element that shines brightly and is rewarded enough that his/her offspring are placed into top tier casts even though they are there by not one iota of merit of their own other than being born into the right family. This perpetuates the wrong kind of people in positions of power and influence. This I believe causes us to stagnate, and that we don't have the luxury of doing. We have too many people and far too few resources. The scarcity problem can't be satisfied and hence the fear factor brings about wars of various kinds.
Now some would argue that wars are productive in a "Darwinian" sense and instill a sense of competition, but I say this is madness at this point in our development. We have the technology to advance ourselves much further and off the planet and our competition should be the cosmos itself. The math of probabilities are against us as a species if we again keep all of our eggs in one basket.
I find it frustrating that we have so much potential before us, yet we fail to be excited by it and cling to the comforts of "no heavy lifting" when it comes to thought and efforts into the unknown. It's like trying to shove people out of tents into houses, or out of Model Ts into a modern sports car. We need to keep evolving and pushing the envelope.

You can't have representative government if the moneyed few can influence the politicians. Our current economic situation is due to our trade policies. "Free Trade" is the biggest lie to be imposed upon the American people in our entire history. "Free Trade" is an oxymoron, business is war, and trade is the mother of all wars. Our founding fathers understood this, and that is why they limited the federal government to collecting funds only through trade tariffs. They understood the need to protect the ecology of the nation's economy.
What we have now are trade policies that are dictated by multinational corporations that call this rape "globalization". It means they can have goods manufactured in countries that pay only pennies for labor, then come flood our markets with these products. This kills kills our industry. It kills our job market. New ideas and innovations can't draw upon our work force, they have been cut out of the loop, and those in power have the markets sewn up. These corporations in power, not only stack the deck in their favor with bought and paid for politicians writing them laws, they also fix the markets for themselves, and get huge stacks of "welfare" from our tax payers.
The first step to correct this is to get control of our politicians back into the hands of the people, and out of the hands of the mega rich and the multinational corporations. This involves campaign finance reform, but that hasn't happened, in fact its went the other direction. It's now even easier to buy politicians with the changes to PACs.
The second step is to correct all of the crooked trade policies and laws that stack the deck in favor of specific corporations and industries, allowing them effective monopolies.
But this isn't going to happen. Those in power have seen this coming for a long time. They have been buying both political parties for decades now. They have been systematically disarming the public as well. They have been building the worlds biggest prison industry, and police state. They own the laws, the politicians, and the law enforcement. They have now the ability to use the military on our civilian population if we decide to have armed revolution. They also control the media, which has proven to be an effective propaganda tool.
The media has done a great job of indoctrinating Americans into believing this corrupt system is "the American way" and to fight to the death to defend it from "liberals, commies, socialists, etc" We have proven how well they control us when they can send our children off to wars that have lasted longer than WW2, and for reasons that are not clearly explainable, we just "have to trust them". We are fighting a "war on terror". This is such a lie. One can't fight a war on an "emotion." It's nonsensical double speak, set to confuse and befuddle the undereducated masses.
