Hah, I used to work a job doing tech support where I'd play my PSP while assisting customers with their net problems. Seriously, Disgaea helped me get through some of the more painful days.
Final Fantasy XI makes all those games you listed, with the possible exception of L2, look like casual pansy ass games. We'd easily throw down more than 24 hours in a row on that fucking game on a regular basis. Seriously, if you have a family and you play any MMO developed in Asia, you might as well get a divorce and submit your resignation at work, because you'll be fucking playing.
Not only that, but I'd argue you get more mental benefit from playing a game versus watching TV. You may be improving hand-eye coordination, teamwork skills, problem solving, etc by playing a game. All you are improving by watching TV is your cholesterol score, but in the wrong direction. Anyone who wants to say that gaming will do that too, needs to play EA Active on the Wii.
It's a simple truth of what we have to look forward to, if things in the US keep progressing in the direction they are currently moving. Whether it's for better or worse, the more control the gov't has over the medical industry, the more likely bullshit like this is to occur.
The hilarious thing is in most cases, lab tests are ordered electronically in most hospitals, and not on paper. At least that's how it works with many hospitals here in the US. Dunno if the UK is still in the dark ages.
It's a UK Hospital. Nuff said. This wouldn't happen in a US Hospital. That being said, being married to someone in the Medical Field, Doctors treat everyone not a doctor like shit, so honestly, I'm not surprised that someone somewhere would want to fuck with their heads a little.
This is the UK we're talking about here. Healthcare is controlled by the government. You are thinking in (soon to be not, if the ultra liberals get their way) US Medical terms.
I'd be willing to bet good money that Blizzard, recognizing how much Starcraft is played in South Korea, will offer to sell the software to pro gaming leagues and possibly even large gaming operations there to connect to the Blizzard network without having to forgo the option of playing on a LAN. I could be wrong but I just don't see them possibly putting off that many potential customers (including the leagues which likely buy a ton of licenses)
Oh BP should most definitely cover the cleanup bill. That doesn't absolve the US Government from taking responsibility to ensure that the cleanup happens in a timely manner to prevent as much damage as possible.
LOL I guess they need to ban Jolly Ranchers from prisons if they haven't already done so. Imagine the damage done with a Jolly Rancher shiv. At least it will be a sweet death.
What the mother fuck is wrong with our society?! We used to bring and trade around all sorts of candy and shit back in the day and everything was all good. Nowadays if you take a sneeze out of turn you might get expelled for it. Seriously, starting to really seriously consider homeschooling supplemented by private tutoring for my children when they are old enough for school (thankfully at 3 and 6 months respectively, it's not currently an issue, although the 3 year old is quickly approaching school age). Our society is getting all sorts of fucked up and it usually seems to center around moronic school officials and their power trips and FUD about how some kid with a Jolly Rancher will somehow turn out to be a murderous psychopath who wants to raze an entire school.
What money has he put into cleaning up the oil spill, besides the money it cost to put on pressers yelling at BP? I mean, I'm sure he's mobilized some units of the Reserves, Coast Guard, and Navy/Air Force, but what real tangible action has the US Government taken, while our coastline (I'm from the Florida Panhandle, and trust me, we're already being affected) is getting fucked over. I can understand how a big portion of the fault lies with BP and the company they've contracted to run the oil rig that started this mess, but it was the US Government that gave them the authority to drill there in the first place with large acreage of drill rights given (sold) to BP from the US.
That means, as much as Mr. Obama may not like this, his government (regardless of the fact that it was some previous administration/congress that actually sold the rights) is partially responsible, and thus is partially also responsible for the cleanup effort. Also, it would be hypocritical for him to make such a big deal about how the previous administration handled Katrina, and then essentially do little besides call an oil company names in the media. I think the more responsible action would be to assist BP in whatever way possible with whatever assets it takes to get the oil spill contained, and then determine if BP should continue to retain the rights they own due to their negligence in preventing the spill in the first place (many supposed fail safes didn't even work correctly).
Of course, people against oil drilling in the Gulf are taking this opportunity to call for a halt in all oil drilling in this area, but in fact it's more of a cluster fuck by one company at one rig that resulted in this entire mess. They certainly do need to evaluate if BP should continue to be allowed to drill in the Gulf, and the need for better oversight on the safety measures being taken at these oil rigs. Also, I personally would rather us club baby seals and drill in Alaska than fuck up the Gulf of Mexico which affects 6 states and a good portion of Mexico's coastline, but then again, I could care less about baby seals and they are likely to be eaten anyways. (and to anyone who takes the last part seriously, WOOOOOOSH)
He does have a few points, but as you said, in the end it's obvious it is a smoke screen. I doubt there is any reason beyond control that is an explanation for what Apple is doing though.
What I do find ironic is how many people defend Apple's actions in an area they obviously have a stranglehold on, whereas MS got blasted for very similar actions back in the 90's. Granted, the exact circumstances are not the same, so don't worry about getting into the semantics because I know what the semantics are. But when it comes down to it, it's about control of a platform, and if the US Government deems anti-competitive practices over the control of a platform to be monopolistic manipulation for the sake of keeping the monopoly intact, then it should hold true for any other party that does the same.
Maybe Apple doesn't hold the same percentage of control in this situation that MS did with Windows then, but it's quickly moving in that direction with the lack of great competitors in the MP3/MP3 + Phone/Smartphone arena. If you count iPod Touch and iPad, Apple really does have a dominant control of that market. And the iPhone is quickly outpacing most of its competitors.
The sad thing is how obvious this all is to those of us who don't have our heads shoved deeply up Steve Jobs' ass, and how all of the fanboys keep defending his strawman argument.
The way I read it the problem was getting the DVDs picked up. If the problem is when they are delivered, he's fucked I suppose since apparently he has to deal with a borderline retarded mailman. Sucks to be him I guess.
I'm suggesting a solution that doesn't cost him anything more than a few moments of his time and a slight bit of effort (which in our society of obese, lazy fuck society I know is a lot to ask) and can prevent the very issue he's bitching about like a little girl. And it requires no PO Box you illiterate fuck. He's complaining about the DVDs he's dropping off getting damaged by the mail worker. If he drops the DVD in a USPS drop box ( you know, the big fucking blue boxes the postal service puts everywhere) then there's a much higher likeliness that the discs don't get damaged. Ironic but not surprising that the logic gets marked troll and the moronic idiocy and lack of fundamental reading comprehension gets marked insightful.

And half of those also happen to be pretending to not be FBI. Amazing!
More importantly, I'd be curious to see how many hours NOOBS use sucking at life in general.

Only Chuck Norris and Jack Bauer could play 48 hours a day. I hear that Jack Bauer plays 24 48 hours a day. Too bad it was a shitty game.
Well played, but I counter with the unbeatable "Your mom"
But dude, they are about to release a new expansion!

Pretty soon she'll be snorting Fun Dip and chasing it with Dr. Pepper. God the horror! Think of the children!!!

Or a Kraken

You're welcome, illiterate fuck. I can do it a billion more times if you please, I have karma to burn.
Yeah misread it, thought he was talking about having problems shoving them into the mailbox. Which begs the question, why do retards become mailmen?
