Here's an idea... Don't keep personal data on company assets. As an admin I can't stand having people store there wedding videos, "personal" music collections, and what have you on the company's network file storage.
Except that "professional" IT people have to deal with company polictics. If the higher ups decide that your sugested security fixes will interfere with their abiltity to only remember one password, what can you do? Just document that you were denied and start looking for another job.
You can't always just blame the IT guy when budgets and politics are deemed more important. Though management will anyways.
I'm surprised. At Sears they gave us training on dishwashers, refrigerators, and dryers, so we could explain basic things like "what's a vegetable drawer". I would expect a Circuit City to do the bare minimum for its staff too.
Ahh but you see, that's why Sears has been in bussines for decades and Circuit City went belly up.
