  1. Didn't RTFA on I Will Derive · · Score: 2, Funny

Can someone summarize it for me?

  4. Re:9-to-5'ism and allegedly "loving your job" on The Dead Sea Effect In the IT Workplace · · Score: 1

Although I strongly agree with the sentiment of the parent comment, there is a problem.

If you love a job as much as suggested, you will be taken advantage of by your employer unless you are lucky. It might be said that if you do get taken advantage of you should go find somewhere else to work. Easier said than done sometimes.

Employers, if you have someone that loves their job, pay them what they are worth and treat them right. They aren't going anywhere either way, but you'll sleep better. And that individual will work even harder.

How is that not truth? Number of accounts is number of accounts.

And I know plenty of people that still play. And some people that recently started playing.

Proceed to call me a loser for knowing these people. It's completely on topic and proves your viewpoint somehow!

In some ways you are correct. The game isn't very remarkable or innovative.

But on the other hand, people are finicky. To have kept the subscription count as high as they have for as long as they have is impressive no matter how much you want to label it as obvious and inevitable.

Simply put, Blizzard's best skill has always been to shine and polish an old idea.

  14. Distribution of monies? on Collective Licensing for Web-Based Music Distribution · · Score: 2, Insightful

Even if this idea wasn't insane, the problem still lies in how the money would be distributed amongst the "music industry". I don't listen to mainstream tunes very often. I don't want my money going there.

Yes, because it would be terrible if news or science could be turned into fun. Mr. Wizard was a jerkwad.

Thankfully when I go to my job, they squeeze all of that silly, good-for-nothing fun out of the picture so I can focus on... what? oh yeah, slowly miserably suffering every last second of the day until I get old and remember fondly the simple enjoyment of fun. Yeah, let's fix science and news. And video games next!
