I don't know that a citation is needed - Most of the people going to TPB are going there to acquire pirated content (that's an assumption I'm making, but I think a valid one.) Acquiring pirated content rather than going through official channels is hassling with a workaround. So, yes, I agree with the GP that the demographic for TPB is largely made of people looking for a workaround.
As of less than 10 minutes ago, XFinity is airing a commercial that says, "America's fastest Internet according to Speedtest.net." So, that's the claim they're making right now.
Homer: Sir, I need to know where I can get some business hammocks. Scorpio: Hammocks? My goodness, what an idea. Why didn't I think of that? Hammocks! Homer, there's four places; there's the Hammock Hut, that's on Third. Homer: Uh-huh. Scorpio: There's Hammocks Are Us, that's on Third, too. Homer: Got it. Scorpio: You got Put Your Butt There... Homer: Mm-hmm. Scorpio:...that's on Third. Homer: Yes. Scorpio: Swing Low Sweet Chariot... Homer: Right. Scorpio: Matter of fact, they're all in the same complex... it's the Hammock Complex, down on Third? Homer: Oh, the Hammock District!
My Muslim bias argument? I'm not out in the streets - I'm not even calling the man out. I simply said that there's an objection right now to a perceived attitude. Whether that attitude is real or justified is a completely different matter - But if you think there's no objection to the perception, you're blind.
You mean the 7 countries Obama identified as Terrorist sponsoring countries? Those people?
Yes, of course those people. Are you saying that there's no objection being voiced to a perceived attitude toward Islam? I didn't think I was being that controversial - I wasn't even trying to justify the objection.
If you're implying that Trump is some how anti-semetic or anti-Jewish, may I remind you that his Daughter and Son-in-Law are Jewish.
I don't think that anyone is implying that Trump's going after the Jews - It's his apparent attitude toward another religious group that has some people calling him out.
things should be such that smoking is inconvenient, difficult and expensive
Why? Many health care plans already factor in smoking to their rates based on a subscriber's tobacco use. If an adult chooses to spark up a cigarette in some location where he's not inflicting harm on others, what's the big problem?
Well, even the best DAC available only can create a approximation from the original analog sound signal, while vinyl is an analog recording by nature.
Even with the best vinyl pressing technology, records can only create an approximation of the original analog sound signal. Just because something isn't being digitized doesn't somehow make it perfect. Just because a copy is "analog" doesn't necessarily make it a more accurate representation of the original than a digital "approximation."
I understand software and engineering quite well, and I use the title.
I'm surprised I don't. I have a MSEE and I was employed as an EE for 14 years up until August. Now my title is "Programmer." I would have preferred "Software Engineer" for resume purposes, but "Programmer" fits just fine. At least it would if I was a capable programmer.
we wouldn't have had a bunch of fat crybaby women marching recently.
Calling the protesters fat doesn't help your credibility. What evidence do you have that they were more overweight than the average populace and why does that metric matter?
Doesn't work on all women, but the kind of woman that stalk rich guys . ..
Just because you participate in a beauty pageant doesn't mean you're stalking rich guys. He didn't admit to groping the contestants, but he did brag about getting away with walking around in the changing area where the women have clearly indicated that he wasn't welcome. In any case, the issue isn't with women that consented.
Trump boasting that he could fondle women and get away with it isn't an admission of rape, you moron.
I guess you've got him there - It's an admission of sexual assault, not rape.
If a bomb goes off in the White House, are you going to arrest Madonna for it?
Huh? That's not even remotely equivalent. If the White House got bombed, there was a reasonable chance that Madonna did it, and then she bragged about getting away with it then arresting her would be a fine idea. That's hardly the case.
I still do. I go through about a pack a week of light ("Silver") cigarettes smoking 1/3-1/2 at a sitting - The mass market things you don't like. The little nicotine rush is nice, but I think it's the act of smoking that brings me back - I just enjoy relaxing with a smoke.
I was also self-conscious as a smoker, and tried to avoid smoking at all around non-smokers or even in my own residence.
I don't smoke in my apartment, my car, or before or during work. Maybe the biggest deterrents for me are smelling like an ash try and being judged by non-smokers. People hold a lot of stereotypes about smokers. And, since I embody most of them, I try not to reinforce them.
I quit about a dozen years ago, which I found relatively easy to do. I'll admit that laws barring smoking in bars made it easier because there were just so few places you could smoke.
I quit for about 15 years - I was in a relationship with a non-smoker. Going several days at a stretch without one isn't a hurdle when I'm not at home. The day will come, this year, that my apartment complex goes smoke free, so I guess I'm quitting again. Vaping I guess is an option - I've tried it and enjoy it, but it lacks something that I get from a nice smoldering lung-dart.

My wife is my porn browsing history you insensitive clod!
So when did you last acknowledge your black overlord?
Orange is the new black.
your Muslim bias argument is based on fantasy.

Have you tried turning yourself off and on again?
The only problem with "vice" taxes is that...
... the government has no business telling me which "vices" I should be allowed to indulge in.

Better be careful. I hear the moon is a harsh mistress. TANSTAAFL.

By 'downloads' I was referring mostly to friends that still torrent a LOT of music/movies, and are always having problems with malware, etc.
Has there ever been a noticeable attack using corrupted music/movie files? I mean ".mp3," ".avi," etc. - Not ".mp3.exe," or ".avi.zip."
Don't visit porn sites either. Its not hard...
Well there's your problem.

I reload the page to see if I've gotten any replies to my /. posts since my last refresh.
I know how sad that is.
As it stands, I'll be surprised if they survive another year or two.
As long as it's the primary communications conduit for POTUS, I don't think it's going any where. That's the only reason I use it.
Advertising isn't about what you need. It's about what you can be persuaded to buy. "Need" doesn't factor in.

Bad journalism = I don't agree with what they say.

Opinions be damned - We have facts getting mangled.

Not me. I loved cigarettes.
