    I'm guessing you must hold up a mirror for your laptop so it can see itself... and then you'll get a popup saying, "do I look fat in this case?"
    Be careful not to answer honestly.

    Regardless, I don't see why built-in calibration is so important. Any serious graphic designer or professional photographer already has an external calibrator and the simple software required to use it.

    Taking air quality measurements next to a road is not an indicator of the pollution caused by cars traveling on that road. A more long-term large scale study would be more appropriate as proof.

    There are too many factors involved to take simple measurements, especially chain reactions whose effects are more evident farther from the road where it came from. Specifically, VOCs and NOx reacting to sunlight and creating ozone.

    Or you can ignore all of what I just said and think about what would happen on a windy day :)

    A lot of successful companies are also very corporate, and as such lack the ability to help their employees feel like they are doing anything for themselves.

    Many of us know or have experienced exceptions. If you have, chances are you're still working for the company that gives you that sense of personal progress.

    I'm sharing my opinion of this from a nice little Intel cube, and you might be able to guess why I can relate to people like Peeler.

  11. Re:FastCGI != Apache Module on PHP Optimized for Windows Server 2008 · · Score: 3, Interesting

    PHP used to also ship as an ISAPI module, but it did pretty much the same thing that the CGI did- reload the interpreter for every single request. I'm not sure why they bothered with FastCGI when it would've required about the same amount of effort to write an ISAPI extension. It might have to do with the fact that PHP's source code was more spaghetti-like than any PHP code one could dream up, and not trivial to follow or modify.

    It would be interesting to compare the performance to that of Python [insert framework name here] on Windows, both the ISAPI version and the FastCGI version.
