Don't blame the industry, but the actual individuals that suck at IT.
So I can understand how you feel, but I've been in I.T. since I had a computer in my hands (Commodore 64) at the age of 15 (I'm 36 now).
I've done con-sulting for 10+ years and recently accepted a full-time position as a Technical Developer.
Since I love this stuff, warts & all, I keep myself up-to-date and busy by doing things. Whether it is building my home video/music server (OS X Server) to writing code for home use and work related activities.
So maybe you tried this IT stuff out and after 10 years, finally decided it's not what you're good at. This sounds harsh, and it is, because I deal with more people in IT who are in it for the money. They don't like quality and are a pain in the ass to deal with. This attitude trickles up to management as well, because those so called wanna be IT people look for promotions, so that they don't have to do hands on work any more.
So good luck in your next career.
I hope I die at my keyboard or in front of my server rack at home.
Peace
This country (U.S. of A.) is Republic and not a Democracy.
Therefore, we (U.S. citizens) are guided/ruled by the few, wealthly elite, who are supposed to be working on our behalf (citizens) and taking prudent measures to uphold the Constitution and it's assoicated laws.
However this is not the case and it never was.
Either the guides/rules wake up and realize the mess they put us all in, or the citizen must wake up and realize they need to take back this current Republic (by force if necessary) and place it into trusting/trustworthy hands that will uphold the Constitution and it's associated laws.
What are they going to do with all of that incoming bandwidth usage from all of those port scanners / trojans / bots from external systems?
Will they still charge us for that?
This is what's going to happen.
Since all the major labels will tell us that they are no longer going to be using DRM, they will rely on the big ISPs to perform this kind of filtering. Currently you have some minor ISPs, that won't do this, however, the handfull of major ISPs (Verizon, Comcast, Cablevision, AT&T...) that control a majority of the internet access in the USA will begin to establish filtering standards on their networks. You will see that the smaller ISPs will be eaten up by the majors. Think of ISP consolidation.
The major ISPs will also begin to provide faster access to certain websites via an "accelerate your access" package, which will give you quicker, less latency acess to websites and portals (iTunes etc..).
Net neutratily will be stalled because the powers that be don't want citizens to have this free like access to the internet, why? There's no money or growth in being a dumb pipe (or tube).
The major corps (ISP, Music, Movie) meet with each other frequently and they have a plan for all of us.
We need a net neutrality law in place, here in the US. We cannot trust Corporations ever.
Peace.
That's a yottabytes!

Russia isn't Democratic. Neither is the U.S. of A.
Forbid Windows OSs from running in the USA because it's a defacto tool for terrorism.

Sorry dude. It's Web 2.0 Service Pack 1
Sounds like the MCP is getting bored.
What we really need is higher I/O bandwidth and faster speeds for memory & disks/SSD.
Somebody is going to discover that our brains are much more capable of storing infinitely large amounts of information.
Beware!
The name itself has become the idol.

My wife bought a small helium tank for my son's birthday in Nov. I'm going to keep it and sell short controlled hits for $50.00 a burst!
I agree with you 100%. I'm 36yrs old.. I still hunger to learn and apply my skills as a developer / sys admin.
The younger crowd don't want to progress. THey just want to touch the surface and do nothing more.
