Most CS schools (at least mine) has their own newsgroups.. many the the groups are oriented for each specific class, but if you go outside those, you can often find cool niche communities using usenet at your school. Our school has an opensource club, and a very active opensource newsgroup.. a good tech politics newsgroup.. general discussion.. etc. Using these groups, you see familiar names, familiar personalities.. it really gives you a taste of what usenet was like in the pre-web / pre-spam days.
After the news broke, Nasdaq halted the trading of Microsoft on the market. Yahoo finance had a really quick quip about it... does anyone else know why they did such a thing?
"The agreement covers music from more than 150 record companies, including artists such as Stereophonics, Moby, Ash, Paul Oakenfold, Underworld and Tom Jones."
If anyone can save Napster, its Tom Jones! When I heard the news, I threw my panties at the monitor!
NASA scientists believe there might possibly be life on any large rock in the universe that might possibly have water and/or an oxygen supply that NASA has cannot confirm.
Sources say that in the near future, during another slow media week for NASA, they will reveal the name of one of these rocks that couple possibly have water water that might support life.

5 years since the release of Quake means...

Five Years of Quake

· Score: 5
The first stable release of Quake for Linux should be out soon.
"It is NOT their legal right to send me unsolicited links to pornography and a graphic description of exactly what I'll find via said link, which I get on a daily basis. They have no idea whether I'm an adult or not. "
But what THEY DO KNOW is that you visit adult sites, therefor they believe it is ok to send you that kind of email. My neice (11 years old) surfs the net everyday, and gets no pornographic spam. Is her mail being filtered? No, she uses the same ISP as I do. The difference is, she doesn't look at pr0n. There are databases out there linking your personal information to cookies about where you go.. this is sold to the spammers.. period. You don't have to give your email address to a porn site to get porn email.. you just have to give it to a doubleclick friendly site and then go cruise some porn sites.. then the email starts rolling in.
So.. you want to end spam coming to you that says "young teen sluts waiting to suck you dry", then stop going to sites that show "young teen sluts", and they'll stop emailing you asking you to stop back in.
Have you ever had experience with filtering software? Any filtering software worth 2 cents looks for that kind of shit.. purposeful misspellings, replacements like 0s for Os, 1s for ls. I think Google is smart enough to make a filter like this. So no.. "britney spears suk1ng c0ck" isn't going to get through.
Beyotch.
They filter what gets projected.. maybe you should have read the next sentence before posting.
"That's a filtered version, except that the filter doesn't work well in other languages. So we had people here from BMW, and they told me that there were some German queries that got through that shouldn't have.
[Note to self: Curse on Google only in foreign tongues.]"
I don't know anyone who buys more music since napster came out. I know I sure the hell don't.. I have a burner... CDs run all of 10 cents. I'll buy indie albums because they need the money.. thats it.
Surveys are just that... surveys. The magical thing about a survey is... you can lie! I don't trust survey data because I rarely tell the truth when I take them... this may come as a suprise to all the companies that believe my real name is Spanky Twoshoes and my occupation is professional masturbator.

Well.. by time they made these two movies they had no money left.. I mean the end of the series is even pretty weak, lots of flashbacks and silly trip out animation scenes. Lame.. but essential none the less.
I was really disappointed by the quality of the Evangelion DVDs. Honestly, I have a 46" television.. and Eva tapes look the same as the Eva DVDs on it... of course tapes degrade at an exponential rate compared to DVD.. but still I was expecting more.
I imagine the data about myself looks something like:
"PAST HTTP ACTIVITY->(www.slashdot.org->www.persiankitty.com- >ww w.slashdot.org->www.goatse.cx->www.persiankitty.co m-> www.persiankitty.com
CC ACTIVITY->([19.95->www.cyberxxx.com],[14.95->www.a maz on.com],[4.95->www.hairyladies.com])
PAST WEEK WHEREABOUTS->(HOME->HOME->HOME->HOME->HOME->HOME)
"
There is no good reason to buy a PS2. For one, the graphics so far suck. My dreamcast has better looking games. The antialiasing on the PS2 is pathetic. I was fortunate enough to see a demo of Metal Gear Solid on the XBox and it blew the PS2 version away.. the difference was incredible.
PS2 has the slowest freakin load times.. usually compensated in the games by long long lame ass teaser screens.
XBox will have a hard drive.. meaning I don't have to fork out another $30 just to save my games.. also the hard drive will be great for lowering load times.
The only thing Sony did right was build up a bunch of hype over the biggest dissapointment system of the year. I love my dreamcast and urge anyone with $300 to burn to buy a dreamcast, a couple controllers and a handfull of games for the same price you would pay for a PS2.

Yes.. all we need to do is initiate the Genesis project on one of the moons and we will have a great place for refueling and a new Spock!

If you want mp3s.. then buy a $99 Dreamcast. There are mp3 players out for DC.. just burn a CD with the mp3 software and all the mp3s you want.
check it out --> dc mp3 player
oh yeah.. don't forget about all the dc emulators too --> emulators
No way.. VBBS was the way to go. In Columbus, Metrodata was where it was happening.. back in the days of 16 lines.. oh yeah.
Well I highly doubt the source was standard VHS... so of course I expect more because DVD can give us a better "translation" of the source.

Nothing like spending billions of dollars on something that can send two midgets across the pacific in record time.
