    Exactly. While Google wants to make money, a lot of their actions show that they want to simply make the web better, money or no money.

    to be more accurate imo, they want to make the web better, because they believe growing the entire market will by extension grow their piece of the pie.(hence making them more money)

    unless something has changed, you have to "login" to see anything in Facebook. Even if a page is "public" you can't view it without logging in with your own account.

    A crawler may or may not by pass that...

    its a known fact that MANY more people drive and drive MUCH more often in the USA than in the UK...

    (disclaimer: I have no idea whether there are more accidents in the US or UK)

    I spent about 8 years without Health insurance...

    Was it a choice? Could I have a "really" afforded it? yes of course.

    Of course then I wouldn't have been able to afford college and wouldn't be in the really good job I am now...

    it was a calculated risk I took. If I got sick I would have went to the ER and YOU would have paid. In reality, this wasn't a fair choice to you on my part. But its one I'm glad I made :P

    The problem with letting basic necessities be governed by capitalism is it only works if you're willing to let people who "fail"(either from their own stupidity or outside forces) die. As a "moral" civilization, we aren't willing to do that. Which effectively breaks the system. This is why social security came about and why you need to not give people a choice about whether or not they want health care...

    Things like this are "almost" always built on site. I have a suspicion that the mine would be of the "strip mine" variety. Which would include insane amounts of raw materials being processed.

    What's sad is HOW TRUE THIS IS...

    I've had multiple conversations with friends and family that can't distinguish between the internet and a application(namely the web browser).
    "I use IE to get to the internet..."

      Or they think their home page IS the internet application.
    "I get to everything using Google" (of course they immediately click bookmarks icon on the Firefox browser).

    Take 50 years multiply by 365...

    That 18,250 UNIQUE possible people in a given zip code.

    Now double because you include gender ( I'll assume no aliens.

    that's 36,500 people if you spread them out equally in a given zip code, that you could uniquely identify...

    Except in heavy urban areas I doubt there are many 5 digit zip codes that even have that many people...

    now granted people aren't spread out evenly by birth date. But its not hard to imagine that there are MANY unique matches with that info...

    In every market, AT&T had faster average download speeds and had signal strength of 75 percent

    again I would like to know how they did this test?
    did they use a custom built device to measure the signal strength? if they used cell phones the results are garbage and can't be trusted. Much like that little battery indicator, the signal strength indicator is a lie.
