Trump has stated that he will not necessarily honor NATO commitments to nations that are inadequate in their own commitments to NATO. This has been discussed amongst the military a bit recently "Military times"
There have been studies that link allergies to lack of environmental stressors during childhood. For example having a dog (dirt, fecal matter etc) significantly lowers the incidence of allergies in children. Of course environmental pollutants are also being linked to allergies as well.
Any number of groups with allergies could make a similar claim though. While your condition is unfortunate, it shouldn't prevent others from for example grilling or barbecuing in a public park.
Lets take France as an example. Recent polls indicate that Marine Le Pen (conservative party) has a good chance of winning next year's presidential election. Link here She has already promised a Frexit type referendum link here
should she win.
Bank of America some time back released a report with similar speculation that we are in a simulation. "Simulation" probably isn't accurate but as a model it may actually be useful for us to adopt this view at least for the next few hundred years http://www.businessinsider.com...
It is also arguable that since the less successful tend to breed quite a bit more in modern society that there is already historically unusual pressure triggering this -less intelligent, attractive people are contributing more to the gene pool. Gene manipulation on if it becomes standard medical practice (cheap) might be a panacea for this.
A better solution would be to drop off one reindeer carcass and a box of salt for each Fin in the country along with a paper booklet on curing meat, making sausages and tanning hides. If they are real fins they won't really require any more assistance than this.
This is for the most part (apart from a few outliers) absolutely true but even taking all that as a given, you still have poor people to deal with. The question then is how best to provide for them or incentivize them to participate productively in society.
I can certainly agree with that. Buddha, Jesus all the main spiritual teachers excepting I guess Muhammad have had more influence on the world than anyone and would be considered great non-violent men. The problem I see is that non-violence isn't exactly a recipe for longevity and in their field Apple was pretty cut-throat. Agriculture doesn't have to be violent but in its modern form is probably one of the most destructive activities on the earth. I guess it depends on how fine a point you want to put on it.
We're in the most peaceful age in human history. Most believe this is due directly to US oversight and military dominance.
You cannot have peace but by the sword. Consider the consequences of removing your local police force.
Ah, no. America's roots are largely as a North-Eastern European culture. If you compare us with say the UK or even as far as Finland our numbers are actually lower. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...
It is mostly legal depending on where you are if you are the legal guardian of the kid but culturally I think I would be better off spanking my kid in public than allowing them to have a small portion of alcohol. This seems relatively new. I can clearly remember my dad and uncles letting me drink when I wanted and I'm only in my 30s. Of course, that was in small town Texas... but still it feels like something has changed. I don't think most people would feel comfortable allowing that these days. It is a very strange thing for people to be so obsessive about.
What might really help with adoption of PC-BSD or TrueOS would be a small hardware manufacturer taking a similar approach to Apple and selling hardware that 100% works and is supported for the OS. I'd love to run a BSD OS again but I do most everything on a laptop and I need good battery life and suspend / resume to work without constant fiddling. Hell it wouldn't take much to surpass Linux usability if you focused on a few models. Even running Linux I had to map custom keys to xrandr scripts to get brightness control working on my current laptop.
The EU seems to lack a basic sense of self preservation. All this on the heels of the Brexit and UK manufacturing increasing after all the panic died down.
It would be super nice if progressives stopped trying to replace the father with the state. I have no problem with teen pregnancy. The natural consequence of this should be a household with a mom and dad sharing the obligations of raising a kid and maybe it's kind of tough for a few years but that is OK life is supposed to have sharp edges. The real problem is the systematic destruction of the family unit that is a predicable result of welfare programs and insanely onerous child support laws leveled against fathers.
When press throughout the country are pushing every day that candidate x has a lock on the election due to their super delegate count it seems a stretch to say that wouldn't depress candidate y in their ability to turn out donations and volunteers and voters at the voting booth.
This is a strange election. Donald, if you strip away the press smears is actually more progressive than Hillary. He is pro union, anti TPP, he has a MUCH stonger history of support gay rights... the guy is a big labor candidate. Hillary with the exception of supreme court nominees is closest politically a Jeb Bush.
Is it really more difficult to travel in the US as a foreigner than to travel to other countries? I can understand it being super easy to travel within the EU as a citizen but that isn't really a fair comparison. Is it easier to get into Singapore or China? I am of the opinion though that our welcoming committee is one of the worst in the world. Traveling back to the US into Philadelphia, I was very embarrassed by the way the TSA comported themselves. They were a bunch of stressed out armed assholes -but that could just be the city of Phili...
You have not thought that comment through very well. Obviously there are separate standards for citizens and non-citizens. For example, there are at least standards in Europe depending on if you are an EU citizen, not an EU citizen or a citizen of the country you are in that is within the EU. The schengen agreement and all that. Alternatively, you could be a citizen of a country that is on bad terms with the country you are seeking to enter...
Obviously you would not ask a citizen to leave the country upon the commission of a crime for example but it would be very reasonable to ask a visitor to do so. etc. etc.
I blame the media hysteria that has mischaracterized the nature of recent police shootings. There is a good chance she was afraid that she would be shot anyway and saw the shotgun as a means of postponing the inevitable

You would need to control for demographics to make a comparison between Scandinavia and the US

I might be worried about precedent but this is the EU we're talking about. No one takes their rulings seriously anymore.

For the most part, BAD CHOICES.

... I meant North Western obviously.

The permissions for signal seem pretty insane though. Then again, maybe this is standard these days:

Edge doesn't even support third party plugins... Trouble viewing a PDF? Good luck discussing that with Microsoft. I don't know what they are thinking.
