Our assessor publishes this information online. You can get maps, ownership information, and tax information (except for a few properties). We just don't publish this in a machine readable format. If someone wants a dump of all the data, we point them to the website. While the information is public, there is no requirement for the government to provide it in whatever format a user wants.
Well... Since both your hard drive and CD-RW are on the same bus, that can cause a problem (with IDE that is, not SCSI). Try moving your CD-RW as a secondary master and keeping your hard drive as the primary master. IDE drives can only handle one transaction at once per bus.
This would be cool. No more 404s! That's the problem with the web. I also like the idea that this is being put in open source so that we can all benifit. At least it isn't Microsoft...
