    Maybe I'm tripping, but isn't the frozen water at the north pole being artificially held there because it's frozen? When thawed I would imagine it would rise the sea level near the equator because of centripetal forces from the earth's rotation.

    With Linux, your choices are ext2, ext3, jfs, reiserfs, vfat, xfs. None of these are portable at all, so you have to go with the portable filesystem.

    not many are useful for solving the article poster's problem though. I bet UDF is supported by all three platforms. How about write support to anything other than DVD's?

    Why would Micosoft want to implement other filesystems? It wouldn't be very strategic of them if they did.

    It reminds me of how "Coke" has become a generic word for soda pop in some parts of the South. If you order a "Coke" in some sourthern establishments, the redneck bartender will ask you "what kind of Coke do y'all want? Orange? Pepsi? Root Beer?"

    I havn't noticed this in Texas. If you order or Coke, thats what you get. The reason it's used so much is probably because so many people drink it. I use 'coke' because it's the path of least resistance. Everyone aside from Taco Bell has it. Maybe the bartenders I've run into haven't been redneck enough... who knows

    This is a tough decision. If a 17 year old is pointing a gun at you, what would you do? I don't think it matters what the individuals age is when that individual is wielding such power. After the crime has been commited, yes, special treatment should be applied (no method of prevention). Preventing an innocent death takes priority though. Either way, the outcome is bad and the scale seems almost even here.

    Wouldn't this cause the earth's rotation to slow down? (spinning in the chair experiment). With super-accurate GPS and atomic clocks, I would think this would be measureable.

    about a month over a year of minimal use, my 16x plextor died. (right before summer). Whenever you insert a disk the red light just blinks. I cannot return it either. :(

    My vote goes for Keanu Reeves.

    All you would need to do is tell him to say "What", "I don't understand", and "Where's the tea".
    Who would know the difference? :)

    Plus, I think the role in The Matrix would amplify the world is a computer effect. After all, The Matrix surely came from HGTTG. Deep thought even says: "A computer so large that organic life will make up part of it's operational matrix". (or something like that).

    If they decide to base the hollywood movie on the original radio series, then there won't be a Disaster Area.

    Instead of stealing Disaster Area's ship, they steal a super-evolving species' war ship. The TV series most likely changed it because they couldn't find a ravenous bug-bladder beast of trall in time. Read the Book or listen to the radio series (IMO they are much better).

    great idea.

    It would be neat to use the original radio broadcast for the audio... then just the animation would be needed. They wouldn't need to change the script to avoid the ravenous bug-bladder beast of trall. (like the tv series did)

    I wonder if an online community could pull this off with enough support... good way to learn blender when it goes open source. :)
