At least there's no PowerPC port. That would be a bad omen for Apple!
By the way, this isn't troll...I'm just stating an obvious anachronism.

Doesn't having an open-source model make it easier for virus writers to find loopholes and exploits within an operating system?
Sure, you may fix it faster, but how are you going to get everyone to recompile?
Granted, the argument could be made that closed-source models don't allow you to close the holes yourself, or even guarantee a timely fix. But how many Linux users are able to fix a problem themselves. And the virus writer will have access to the fix too!
"Let's be serious. Let's be serious," Gates said, sparring with moderator Scott Shuster , a Business Week editor. "Do people have a clear view of what it means to live on $1 a day?... There are things those people need at that level other than technology.... About 99 percent of the benefits of having (a PC) come when you've provided reasonable health and literacy to the person who's going to sit down and use it."
The developing world needs the BASIC things like food, clean water, and political stability that we take for granted.
While some people sit on their overfed asses and debate over BSD vs Mach, the majority of people on this earth are concerned about where their next meal is coming from.
Give the average citizen of a developing country a computer, and they'll sell it to feed their family!
I must add that Linux does not have the Microsoft "brand". It takes years and millions of marketing dollars to build a "brand". I know this is hard for most/.ers to understand, but most decisions aren't made for purely technical merit. Marketing departments continue to exist because they work!
Where is the Linux marketing department?
My mother is still using a 20Mhz mac to surf the internet...
It's amazing. A 2Ghz chip is imminent...100 times the clockrate of my mother's lowly computer. And in another 18 months, it will be 200, 400, 800,...then the killer robots!
Gotta love an exponential curve!
Too busy downloading...must not get first post!

Immediately after the story broke a couple days ago, Microsoft put up an apology.
These ARE the actual screenshots...they are different from the "concept art" that was mistakenly put up.
The XBox team was very quick to respond to this overblown bullshit.

Didn't a superconducting chip lead to the creation of killer robots?! All the science fiction books that I read as a kid are coming true...
