I find the user interface to be very good. But I did run into these kinds of troubles with getting acclimated. It just takes some time to get used to the subtle differences.
We could all do it in windows instantly (well, after the long delay for the control panel subscreen to open), but how many years have we had to familiarize ourselves with Windows?
Why would someone download video clips with embedded ads if there were another source for the same clips without the ads?
There's going to be a showdown here, because i don't think the internet ads model generates a lot of revenue. Naturally Viacom wants people watching their programs on TV only so they can keep ratings up and TV ad revenues up.
I'm not a fan of Viacom's behavior either, but it seems strange to suggest that they would make more money that way.
a number of years ago as a high school student i had a part time job at a local arcade, and many of the video game machines at that time were running windows. NT i think it was. they had an actual Gateway (2000, in those days) case inside.
I agree. Is this showing leadership? Letting the other party and complicit party members shove you around when you're supposed to be the leader of the party?
Maybe he needed more than 143 days in the senate so he could figure out what he's doing...
<p>I voted for Obama in the primary because his rhetoric of change really made me feel hope for the future of this country. His support for this FISA bill has thrown that hope out the window. Where before I was actively trying to persuade others to vote for Obama, I'm now trying to discourage it. I don't want McCain to win, but at the same time, someone has to have some principles somewhere along the line and I'm not giving up mine. I'm standing up for myself and not supporting Obama any longer.</p></quote>
I thought for the first time ever about supporting a liberal just because of this issue. Looks like I will be back to the LP again this year.
No way can I support him after this monumental collapse of spine
by describing MSN as a "dogpile" i thought you had made an astute observation.
of course, not the '.com' kind of dogpile, i mean the 'laying around in your backyard where the grass is mysteriously greener and taller' kind of dogpile

I consider myself a brand whore first and batshit insane second.
They missed out on Beenz.com, darn the luck.
Hopefully AOL can do for M$ what AOL did for Time Warner.
AOL users are probably also in the Vista fan club so this might actually be a good thing for M$. Several dozen more satisfied customers.
I voided the warranty on my Macbook by doing something that they provide instructions on how to do?
Mod parent Interesting!
EULA is a contract... the law doesn't have much to say about contracts you enter into and then decide you don't want to honor.
it's not called the 9th Circus for nothing
So you go to newegg, buy a $100 hard drive and spend $100 on ram, and you're good.
It doesn't matter if you can duplicate the hardware specs, what matters is if you can duplicate performance.
I for one welcome Microsoft's history of high-minded and ethical business practices. ... ..
IMO, Microsoft caused BluRay to win by not making the standard drive on the Xbox 360 be HD-DVD. No way would bluray have won then.
It's a bit odd. Microsoft for some reason failed to embrace with intent to extinguish and consumers might actually be worse off.
Agreed.
Do you notice TV commercials? I certainly do. Can you recall information from them? Has a TV commercial ever influenced your buying behavior?
Now, do you notice internet banner ads? Do you ever click on banner ads? Neither do I.
I don't know who ebay is paying. Getting assistance or support with anything is like finding the holy grail.
Pretty lame that you can't buy magazines on there. You can buy them anywhere else.
I agree with this. Formerly there were lots of great deals to be had on Ebay.
Now, the discounted items you used to be able to get from private sellers have given way to hyper-volume sellers with more or less fixed prices.
Ebay is not really an auction site anymore. It's really nothing more than a circular where any questionable web merchant can post advertisements.

Maybe it was a service to Microsoft's employees; they wanted to protect them from having their personal information compromised.
Add to that all the "Linux is easy, it configures itself, installation is a snap, anyone can use it on any system".
If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, I could replace all my existing hardware with that which has reliable Linux drivers.
