Actually, I seem to recall that there are slightly higher suicide rates in Scandinavia, although quality of life measures higher as well (this leaving me to conclude that the more people off themselves, the happier everyone still left becomes...). Stayed tuned for how this ties in with temperatures; I'll think of something...
Not to detract from a very valid, insightful point but... that's one hell of a username. I suggest some raw garlic; I suspect it would offer a massive improvement...
Unfortunately, that's not the same for Intel graphics and AMD doesn't even offer a Catalyst driver for FreeBSD.
I'm still trying to get the Tseng Labs ET4000 video chip in my IBM PS/2 ValuePoint to display more than 256colors. Apparently the chip itself is capable but there was a hardware bug in IBM's implementation (the chip is soldered to the motherboard, by the way) and it simply won't display 16 or 24bit color depths in Windows 3.1 without artifacting all-to-hell. I've tried calling IBM every year or so (since 1994) to see if they've released a patched BIOS for the problem yet but still no luck (however, now that Lenovo's in charge, things might finally shape up over there; my fingers're crossed...).
None of the reasons are of any value to me. If I want the safety of a regulated taxi, I'll take one. If I am willing to accept the risk of taking an unregulated one, where is the reason to disallow me to do that?
Seriously, stop dragging common sense into it. They simply cannot even fathom what the fuck you're talking about.
All valid points but I wasn't referring to the flesh of fish (carnivorous or otherwise), which is dramatically different than that of a purely-carnivorous mammal such as a big cat.
"Roof-rabbit?" I don't know whether to be amused or grossed-out that there's an alternate for "catmeat" but it sounds like it a more apt discription of a pigeon, not a cat.:p
Anyhow, the toxicity of the flesh of a carnivore is going to depend heavily on the diet of said carnivore (with feral [domestic] felines in an urban environment likely consuming a highly-omnivorous diet given their role as a scavenger) and is probably nowhere near as toxic as, say, the meat of a jaguar.
In any case, here's what I wrote in response to someone else with the same request for a citation:
When I was a kid, I read about numerous accounts of indigenous people who knew not to eat the meat of predators and Europeans who didn't heed their warnings becoming gravely ill. I wasn't able to google up anything specific (I imagine I might have been able to if I had more time) but this might shine a little light on the subject.

Parent may have been clueless to the tongue-in-cheek nature of my post but whoever modded this down was nonetheless a fucking moron; it's well understood that the flesh of nearly-completely-carnivorous creatures (such as felines) is highly toxic and can kill you if you eat it.
You've been lucky with your vee-dub; their fundamentals are still generally solid (especially the diesels) but they're constantly getting sidelined by failures of trivial electical components. My '90 E32, on the other hand, is the 2nd most reliable car I've ever owned (only surpassed by my '87 E30) but it's 24 years old; I'd never buy a BMW made after the company decided that Microsoft products were solid enough to be bundled with their vehicles (which, IMHO, demonstrates an upper management failure so incredibly monumental as to nearly rival the Pentagon's fuckup in choosing "Windows for Smart Ships" for the Yorktown).:p
A car maker who relies on 'security through obscurity' deserve the cost of a massive recall.
They already deserve that many times over; Volkswagen AG's cars have been notoriously flaky and generally unreliable for fifteen to twenty years now. Sure, they're absolutely great cars to drive (when they're working correctly)... but the ownership experience? Forget it.*
*This is coming from the biggest fan of 1st and 2nd gen Quattros you'll ever meet.
You have little sympathy for artists so I assume you don't read books or listen to music.
I stand corrected; artists should be able to create once and then sit back, relax and draw a never-ending stream of compensation without ever having to create again. Wait, what's that you say? You're not advocating something that extreme? Well, then, what the fuck do you call THIS horseshit??
Slashdot headline of the century...

Video, what video? (That damned NoScript...) :p
Somehow I was hoping for a bit more...
I blame the ignorant people who elect him into office
What, here in Oklahoma?! Nah...

how is that working out exactly.
For who? Seems to me it's working out just as intended for those quietly operating the controls...

Alexander has some set of cojones to speak in front of an unfriendly mob.
Riiiiight. 'Cause a bunch of passive-aggressive hackers who've likely never been laid represent quite the physical threat level! :p
Do you remember the Saturday morning cartoon show??
Where's the 10ga Saiga/Vepr with the 36" barrel when you need one?! :p

and somehow this makes him a hypocrite by giving a speech at an amazon warehouse?
As if we even need any more reasons why that Fascist-masquerading-as-a-Socialist is a hypocrit. LOL!!!
Whales and seals, which I mentioned, are mammals and not fish.
Yes, however none of them feed exclusively on mammals.
...though their diets as food animals can vary wildly from the standard "mostly carnivore" model.
As do the diets of domestic felines... :)
As I saw on a bumper sticker many years ago:
CAT: THE OTHER WHITE MEAT
Perhaps it was a reference to the other kind of pussy? :)

What's the matter, don't like a little uric acid in your stew? :p

We choose to eat some animals (like cows) and not others (like cats)...
Speak for yourself; I find cat makes a fine goulash. Okay, well I might if I lived in Lousiana... :)

Except that to earn a living then they would have to write a new song every day.
Hear that sound? (>appears to roll a booger between thumb and forefinger...)
