Mod parent up; I hate sitcoms more than ANYONE (I don't own even own a TV) but the dialogue in that show contains some truly brilliant lines (just try and seclude yourself from the mediocrity of the world; it'll follow you right down into your hole).:)
What Should a Unix Fan Look For In a Windows Expert?
So it seems that we have to take it seriously and hire a few Windows fans
The terms "expert" and "fan" are mutually exclusive when it comes to Windows: to know it is to hate it... and those truly experienced with it on a technical level are more aware than anyone else what a stinking pile of shit it is (I should know; I'm one of those sorry motherfuckers!).
So now I'm a mac user and I get all that UNIX-y goodness and none of the open source drama queen bullshit.
And now you're safely protected behind the walls of a demonstrably evil company's garden. Anyway, having a choice has always meant there were better as well as worse options to choose from; your generalization of the open source scene as being "drama queen bulshit" (based on what, Gnome's shark-jump?) is poor attempt at a strawman to say the least.
Hell, when I got stuck with a 32bit MB Pro (did have to love that illuminated keyboard), I made it my bitch with a quick application of Mint 12 LXDE. Garden wall, meet Terex Titan.:)
Apparently none of them have been circumcised; I, on the other hand had part of my dick chopped off at birth and I've been pretty pissed off about it ever since!
The subject line was supposed to read "Creationism faith!" (oh, and I left out the/sarc tag... but that was on purpose; I'm hoping for some downright incredulous responses!).:p
There are probably tons of atheists who believe that the Earth is only 6,000 years old; after all, just because you don't believe in God doesn't mean that the Earth (and everything on it) didn't spontaneously come to exist in a single moment not all that long ago...
Those would do better in Mexico; for India you want one that'll run on body od... oh, that kind of air!:p
(I'd better issue a disclaimer for those who would likely perceive my humor as nothing more than a blatantly disrespectful use of a worn-out cultural stereotype: I absolutely love Indian food and I could eat it all day long... and there certainly shouldn't be any shame in acknowledging that some of those spices are known for adding a certain quality to one's fragrance!).
Will you guys be able to get any sleep tonight, after seeing (and replying to) what appears to be an actual woman on/.?
The real question is, do we fantasize all night long, due to actually having replied to a female... or do we have nightmares, due to the fact that (this being/.), "she" is in all likelihood a "he?!":p
...(the ISA bus and clean-room reimplementations of the IBM BIOS) was built before version 1 of Windoze was launched...
I think you might have misunderstood my use of the phrase "incredibly diverse ecosystem." I was hardly referring to the 80's when Compaq took on IBM. Hell, most of the hams and programmers I knew then owned Apple II's and C64's, not PC's.
Rather, I was referring to the mid 90's, when "x86" as a standard took off like a rocket and an astounding number of players hopped onboard what had previously been a far smaller domestic industry.
Microsoft was granted a monopoly on computer operating systems, and that monopoly is still being protected decades later despite being immensely damaging to innovation and business around the rest of the world.
Actually, knucklehead, Microshaft Winblows was the soggy glue that held the parts together long enough for an incredibly diverse ecosystem to develop; we affectionally refer to this as "the PC."
Their "couple square miles of undeveloped land" is actually a minefield, and to avoid accidental detonation (you know, magnetic triggers and all that), the situation calls for a purely mechanical hard drive - perhaps one running on water power.
For all the great evils the CIA, Mossad and MI6 supposedly do on a daily basis, what is he doing still breathing?
Give 'em credit; they're capable of being a bit more subtle than that (when the situation calls for it, anyway).
Oh that's right, the Nations in question are playing fair and they following the rules.
Rules are for schmucks (that would be the rest of us). However, appearing to follow them can be advantageous sometimes; openly and flagrantly violating them can be advantageous on other occasions. Let's be realistic and stay away from the vapid generalizations, shall we?
Which historically is pretty unusual for a non-state actor who has so much highly sensitive data pass through his hands.
Are you trying to establish a relevant precedent to compare this with? No, didn't think so...
5% of the world does not control the other 95% - it likes to pretend, however.
The 5% can pretent what they like; meanwhile.000005% really do control the other 99.999995% (no pretending necessary) - but if you're not holding onto what you've already got (much less consolidating additional power) in the face of shifting allegiances and threats from the unwashed masses getting too big for their britches (printing press, mass literacy, Internet, etc), then you're getting sloppy...

I don't know why but that remind me of this.
...I will spend every penny of Apple's $40 billion in the bank...
What was he going to do, take it with him? :p

Aw, Geez... that's twice that /.'s eaten the "not equal to" symbol that was supposed to be between "Creationism" and "faith;" don't I feel stupid...

Then she doesn't seem to have been able to find him in time to check her posting.
My [implied] joke was that her grammar would've been even worse had she not had the help of "her Christian."
I'm a woman who uses a PC and a Christian.
I figure I know what you do with the PC. What's the Christian for?
To help her with her grammar (I know, right?!).

Wouldn't be an issue though I think, as there are no shortage of cheap non-infringing Android phones they could use instead.
It's a non-issue regardless; the recent court decision in Apple's favor won't apply, due to jurisdiction. :p
Why does it have to be a mechanical hard drive?

Just a wild guess...
There's also requirement that the server has to boot in 30 seconds or less...
Uh, disable Pulse Audio??

It was Obama who finished the job.
Not that any of us with an IQ higher than that of a lemon actually believed that that was how things really went down...! :p
Sell it NOW and buy it back when Samsung appeals; free money.
They would be nothing without... Oklahoma... (you know where they grow a good majority your food).
Pretty sure all they grow out here is fat people...
Could you share her reason she cares about such floofy things? I've always wondered, myself.
From my perspective it all seems to be about who can spend more money on their outfit, like a prestige thing.
It's an evolutionary holdover from back when we strutted around showing off our brilliant plumage...
Yawn.
Put up or shut up.

There; you happy? (Didn't think so...)
