You don't know whether it will be bad for environment or us. Maybe first it will be terrible but after some period it will be much better than now? Or maybe it's not gonna change things as much as some think it will? We don't know.
How do you know whether nature can't cope with COÂ? The more COÂ there is, the more plants can grow (pretty obvious) which in turn can handle more COÂ. Or maybe higher percentage of COÂ is not that bad for the nature. After all, nature is known to be able to adopt to new environments.

I was curious so I just done what you've said (I used gimp however). To be honest, I cannot see any banding.
I am a little bit surprised by it as I see banding quite often (damn LCD is less colorful than CRT) however nvidia driver does really good job with dithering (comparing to nv driver).
I guess that 16bit is enough for most causal LCD users, problem is rather with images or GPUs I'd say, which got used to more colorful CRT screens.
Ok, so if GPUs are far more powerful than CPUs why doesn't nVidia just create a CPU based on their GPU? AMD & Intel would be in serious troubles then. And if 300 CPUs can be overtaken by just 8 GPUs, why the heck people haven't been doing it before? No one got such idea? Yeah, right... Something stinks here...
Now it's teens, later it gonna be children. The younger the human, the more bullshit you can tell him that he gonna believe. It's just like religion, you take a child, teach them that there is god and some guys which tell you what the god wants from you and if he won't do what they say, you gonna fry in hell for eternity.
So, if they're are really so worried about law understanding, why won't they teach something that will really benefit all. Why? Because they don't care about people. They only care about the money then can get out of them. I think that they want it get to such point that when you even think about 'illegal' download, they gonna sentence you for life imprisonment. And the worst thing is, that they also want to control all the aspects of your digital life so they know when it gonna happen.
If it's going advance this way, I'm starting to get really worried about freedom of the internet.
Well, whatever they try we still will be able to get music/video/games/soft/etc from eMule, Bit Torrent or whatever you like. DRM mostly affects Windows so maybe thanks to their 'smart' ideas people will start switching to other oses (maybe). And if all that stuff won't work out they will start to built DRM into human brain so you won't be able to hear any music or see any video.
The world is going crazy. When I go to cinema the first thing they show is that I'll be imprisoned for recording the video. Can you imagine? People get away with killing others and they want to imprison people for recording video (no one gains or loses anything because of that). They try to tell us that copying music is stealing and the consequences of that gonna be worse than if you stole a car.
I'm just glad that people in Europe are more reasonable (so far).
