That's rather dishonest of you, trying to pretend that Miyamoto's comment was relevant to your bashing of the controller.
It's interesting that you should mention Resident Evil 4, seeing as it made good use of the Wii Remote pointer. That many games don't use the Wii Remote to a greater degree is a different issue. That said, the Wii Remote is obviously easier to use for most people than controllers full of confusing buttons. And that's where the others lag behind. They bet everything on nice looking games. Nintendo went for a better controller.
Let's face it, processor-wise and capability-wise the Wii is little more than a slightly improved Gamecube. The whole console was built around the controller, as has every game for the system.
And controller-wise, the other consoles are little more than same old, same old. Why are better graphics better than a new controller exactly?
But it would still be more than fair to call it a "gimmick,"
Just like the focus on graphics in the other consoles is just a "gimmick"?
You have an interesting definition of "gimmick". Wii is a lot more mainstream and reaches a lot more people than the other consoles with its controller, which makes it easier for people to pick up and play a game. That's not a gimmick.
underpowered performance (look at Yahtzee's recent review of the Wii version of The Force Unleashed for a pretty good summary of this problem).
And the other consoles have "underpowered" controllers.
No, please don't ditch characters like Mario and Zelda. A lot of people have an emotional attachment to these characters. I want to play as Mario and Link in the future. Familiar is good.
And as for coming up with something else, don't Pikmin, Nintendogs, etc. count?
Finally, I ask, what's so wrong with wanting original IP's?
Nothing. But apparently you've missed things like Wii Fit, Animal Crossing, Nintendogs, Wii Music, Pikmin, etc. It's not like Nintendo never comes up with something new.
Why do some people get so defensive when this is asked for?
They get defensive when someone wants Nintendo to ditch known and loved characters. I want to experience a new Zelda game, based on new technology which can bring new parts of the Zelda universe to me.
But that's not what happens with Mario and Zelda. Mario 64 is completely different from Mario 3 is completely different from Mario 2 is completely different from Super Mario Bros. And Mario Sunshine is completely different from 64. Galaxy is something completely new again.
The same goes for Zelda, for the most part. 1 and 2 were completely different. The SNES game was completely different from Zelda 2. OoT was 3D, obviously very different. Majora's Mask looked similar, but the gameplay mechanics were very different compared to other Zelda games. TP approaches OoT I guess, but is still very different in many ways.
Chrome created more awareness for alternative browsers, causing more people to be aware that there's more than the blue E. This benefits everyone except IE, I would think.
For example, it is common for java script files related to advertising domains to be linked separately into pages served from different top level domains.
You can disable JS for specific domains. Or disable it globally and only enable it for selected domains.
You can also use the content blocker to simply block doubleclick.net completely.
Google can easily throw a lot of resources at it to quickly develop the browser
It should be noted that it took them more than two years to get Chrome out the door. Browser development isn't exactly quick. Which is one of the reasons why there's business around for Opera. If it was easy to make a browser out of WebKit, Opera wouldn't see the growth it has today. But anyway, it will take Google a while to build up a community to rival Mozilla. Just throwing resources at it won't help. Browser development doesn't work that way.
JavaScript is just a tiny part of what takes time when loading a page, so I would be surprised if you actually notice a general speedup because of Chrome's JS engine. Maybe in certain types of web applications, but even there you are reaching a point of dimishing returns if you focus solely on JS performance.
"Chrome" is available on mobile devices already, in practice. It's using WebKit, which is both used by Safari on the iPhone and as the engine for the Android browser. The Android browser just isn't called Chrome yet. Chrome will be big on mobile devices if Android gets big.
Opera might not have compiled JavaScript, but I doubt that it falls behind the other browsers when it comes to SVG performance and rendering speed. If I am not mistaken, Opera currently has the most complete SVG implementation of any browser, and the performance has been shown to be excellent. Maybe there is a performance bug or two somewhere, but overall, it is definitely not slower at SVG and rendering.
On Acid3, Opera is ahead of everyone except Safari nightlies (an experimental Opera build reaches 100/100). JavaScript isn't slow (look at these speed gains in 9.5 compared to older versions and other browsers), it just hasn't applied all the things to the JS engine that other browsers have (experimentally). So how you can conclude that Opera is falling behind is slightly strange.
I guess some Obama supporters are going to do these things to counter Republican voter intimidation and fraud. Why shouldn't they? If official Republican tactics involve lies, fraud and intimidation, some people are bound to feel that there's more to lose by not countering these disgusting moves.
I notice that you employ the common creationist tactic of ignoring my questions.
Repeating the same claims that you just said "read these 12K pages and you'll see" as evidence is not the same as providing me with those couple of specific examples I asked you for.
The WTC7 did collapse due to fire, in addition to being heavily damaged by falling debris. They even published an entire report on this recently, but truthers rejected the report out of hand. Just like creationists reject evidence of Evolution out of hand because it does not match their pre-conceived notions of what really happened.
So we have now established that you are employing creationist tactics in order to derail the discussion, and in addition to that you are ignorant of the subject matter you are making statements about (WTC7). You are, quite simply, confirming my hypothesis that truthers are exactly the same as creationists.

And the 360 and PS3 were gimmicks with little benefit than HD graphics.
Wait, like Sony and Microsoft make games based around the capabilities of their respective systems?
For those games, maybe. But stuff like Wii Sports, Wii Fit, etc. was pulled of very nicely indeed.
And as for coming up with something else, don't Pikmin, Nintendogs, etc. count?

Wii Sports was not bundled in Japan, and still sold by the bucketload.
I'm afraid you are wrong there.

Adobe didn't have an SDK for anything newer than Flash 7 when the Internet Channel was launched, no.
Firebug has had some time to mature, though :) Dragonfly is currently in alpha, IIRC. Quite a few missing features that are on the roadmap.
Google apps to lure corporate users? Google apps are used in corporate environments?

Kind of OT: Have you tried Opera's Dragonfly dev tools?

I don't know what this is supposed to mean :)

Yes, disabling YouTube comments equals voter intimidation and fraud...

Bush. Clinton had all this intelligence gathered up, but instead of following up on it, Bush fired the security advisor and ignored the warnings.
Wow, that's rich. The biggest liar this election is a straight talker? Has this guy ever actually checked the facts?
