  1. MUST NOT BE USED FOR MOON RESEARCH on IBM Building 20 Petaflop Computer For the US Gov't · · Score: 0

Since it has become evident that the moon is haunted, hence the presence of such a computer on the moon would be a disaster for all mankind; ghosts do not understand technology, even those that haunt the moon, and if one where to find this computer, it could type in the wrong commands and cause terrible things to happen.

And what, exactly, seperates you from the great, unwashed masses? Please, oh Great One...I want to know! Is it your lack of social skills? Your aspergers? Your overweight, pasty fattiness?

If you honestly think 'true' sci-fi is too intelligent for cinema, you're a fucking idiot.

  3. You're a fucking idiot on Indymedia Server Seized By UK Police, Again · · Score: 0, Interesting

Well done for just taking the Slashdot tabloid headline for granted and not actually finding out the facts. Had you done that, you would realise that the site was not, in fact, taken down because it contained anything The Man would be unhappy with, but because the people responsible for it where fanatics found guilty of criminal damage, threats, smear campaigns and a hole host of other nasty shit.

  4. Moon is haunted. Repeat; moon is haunted on Black Holes From the LHC Could Last For Minutes · · Score: -1

It is very likely that the moon is haunted; if we were to build such a dangerous device on the moon, there is a chance that a ghost would find it, and, not knowing how such a device works, it might press the wrong buttons or something and make it go horribly wrong.

  5. Is the moon haunted? on Generational Windows Multicore Performance Tests · · Score: -1

I am thinking of going there and need to know if the moon is haunted. If the moon *is* haunted, what kind of ghosts can I expect to find there?

  6. Is the moon haunted? on Va. Tech Students Create Experimental Bricks For the Moon · · Score: -1

I need to know - I have also designed similar materials using Gimp, running on Ubuntu Linux, but I don't want them being put to use on a haunted planet.

  8. Re:To all the Slashdotters that hate jazz... on A Computer Composing and Playing Jazz · · Score: -1

Its all very well you saying that, but it doesn't change the fact that Jazz is shit. At a base level, I think that, as a race, we all know this; of all the musical genres that have come and gone throughout human history, Jazz is without doubt the worst. Pretentious, tiresome, irrelevant, dreadful, appalling, abysmal - all of these are words that can be applied universally across the entire spectrum of Jazz.

And don't any of you jazz-apologists bring Miles Davis, Charlie Parket etc into this. They didn't play Jazz, they played music with trumpets.

  12. OSS wins again on Kaminsky DNS Bug Claimed Fixed By 1-Character Patch · · Score: -1, Troll

Once again Open Source Software displays its inherent superiority over closed source, proprietary solutions. If this software was written using a closed source, proprietary operating system, such as Windows Vista, this bug would still be in the wild and probably an order of magnitude worse. As it was written using an Open Source operating system, people have been able to inspect the source and find the fault.

  13. Mod parent down, utter bullshit on How to Save Mac OS X From Malware · · Score: -1

Your post is utter bullshit. Apple has always given away developer tools for free, and Apple developer membership has always been free.

You *can* pay for membership if you want a few percs like more beta software and hardware discounts, but it certainly isn't required to develop Mac software.

  14. Re:Poor quality textures on Intel Shows Off Quake Wars, Ray Traced · · Score: -1

No, Pixel Shaders are not compatible with ray tracing - the pipelines on the GFX card would become horribly egg-bound, and performance would take a severe hit.

I didn't understand what you meant by your comment, until I saw the smiley ('=P') at the end, and then it all made sense! You were making a joke, haha! That was really funny. I'm not very good at telling jokes, but I am thinking of sending an email to my freind's daughter who's computer I have been fixing, and I wanted to add something to make it funny - do you think if I added a smiley to the end of some sentences in my email it would fool her into thinking I had a sense of humour?

I think you're buying the idiotic assumption that anyone but a tiny handful or people buys Apple because they are 'different' or 'cool'. Everyone I know who owns an Apple product bought it because they played with a friend's and thought it was awesome.

So no, we're not approaching that point.

  21. Re:You don't say... on Microsoft Brand In Sharp Decline · · Score: 5, Funny

This is just further evidence of Microsoft's imminent defeat at the hands of open source software. Microsoft is terrified of Linux, and it has been the primary cause of many of their recent screw ups which are driving people to Linux in droves.

Just the other night I was installing Ubuntu onto the computer of a freind's daughter, and I explained to her the benefits of open source software, and how it is inherently superior to closed source software.

Please forgive me for going a little OT here, but, at one point she suggested that Photoshop was better then GIMP. I tried to hold in the laughter, but my mouth was full of cheetos, and I spluttered some soggy crumbs over her keyboard. I used my Ubuntu t-shirt to wipe most of them off, and when I looked up, she was staring at me, and making eye contact. Does this mean she likes me?

  22. Re:About time on Is Parallelism the New New Thing? · · Score: 0, Funny

As a user of Linux, I have to say the Parallelism is the 'old thing', as Linux has supported parallel operations for over a decade. Compare this to closed source, proprietary operating systems, such as Windows, where this sort of thing is relatively new.

I remember back in the late 90's writing some kernel modules for Linux, I was astounded by how easy it was. Even though my CPU at the time only had a single core, the power of Linux allowed it to execute more then one code stream at a time. When attempting the same thing on a closed source, properietary operating system, things were much more difficult. This is yet another reason for people to support open source software - it is through the contributions of the general public that Linux has grown so vastly superior to every other mainstream operating system in this regard, and just about every other.

Microsoft are literally shitting themselves about Linux, and articles like this really drive it home.

  24. Re:Moment of truth... on Vista Service Pack One Almost Here · · Score: -1

It is clear now that Microsoft is scared witless by Linux, and the furious adoption that utter disasters such as Vista are creating. People are switching to Linux in droves, and MS know it. Thats why they had to get Vista out so quickly, but they rushed it, and thats why they ended up with an OS that is riddled with usability issues, security concerns and incompatibility.

At times like these, it becomes quite clear who the *real* computer users are; those are the ones intelligent enough to switch to Linux, or who use it already. Everyone else is a sheep, and they deserve what they get.dd
