You know, I am an MCP, and I know all about things that are not open source. I am going to make a blanket statment here. Computers are great! We all (or most of us) got into all this stuff because we find genuine enjoyment in working with technology. Whether we get that enjoyment on Linux or Windows or a series of ICs on circuit boards with a ROM complier, we are all into the technology for the fun it brings us. I think we all need to stop arguing about which OS is better or if OSS is good or bad. Everyone know that open source is good, it allows us geeks to have an OS, a hobby, something to do with our lives. In some instances it has begun to bring us income, and that is not something that we reall know how to address just yet. But we will figure it out.
Unfortunately, the "hacker mentality" that once said, "I can do it myself," is being replaced by the "persuader mentality"
IS that so? Then why is it that I just bought a shirt from copyleft in order to 1. get a cool shirt and 2. donate 4 dollars to the legal defense fund of people like me who are being dragged into court rooms for having the "I can do it myself attitude". I agree with you on some of your point. There are (begin flamebait.h) a whole lot of whiny little losers hopping on the OSS bandwagon pestering companies to open up there software instead of having the triumph of making it themselves (end flamebait.h), but I for one will not give up on open source. We can do it. Linus Torvalds did not say "I'm gonna bug AT&T to open up to source for Unix then I'll study that against Minix and make an OS. He made one based on the functionality of what he wanted. That's the attitude we all need to take.

You apparently miss how Open Source works. Have you ever read the GPL? It states that you can sell your work. Look at Redhat, Caldera etc. They are making money for doing this stuff. The point of the open source community is not to rob you of your work. You are more than welcome to go sit down in your little office and write code all day thinking that no one out there could do it better than you, and then expect to get paid for it. That is not what OSS is about. It is about the idea that by a whole lot of people collaborating on something they are all uniquely good at, we can make a great product and quickly adapt that product to meet individual needs.
We don't want to make you give away everything that you do. By all means, if you can make a product that you think people want to pay for go for it. But just know that the Open Source community is going to make one that is better, faster, and free.
The chronicles series. Just the first three books, now that would have been cool. I would love to see Raistlin in a feature movie, and watch his transformation from red to black. Ohh man, I'm gonna read chronilces again.
The issue that is causing companys to switch back to IE is that Navigator (even 4.06) is too buggy. It doesn't work with Java well, it does not properly support most Mmedia formats out of the box, and it crashes for no apparent reason way to often. At home I use Netscape out of dislike for MS, but I work I sometimes find myself using IE, because I do have work I have to get done.
The only real difference is that KDE is a pain to get working in RHAT 6.1, and it works right off in MNDRK. That and some of the packages that they include in the distro are different. All in all, I would stick with RHAT though. MNDRK seems to be after the almighty buck and that's about it. When you purchase their boxed sets, the docs stink and there on-line info center is vague. I prefer RHAT in this arguement.
Where did your hear that there will be a Matrix 2? That would rock. I bought a DVD player just so I could own the first one, and I would love to see a second. Now, back on-topic. I agree, the movie is very deep philisophicaly. After I first watched it, I lied in bed for hours thinking about it. What if our perception of reality is false.
Oh great, here we have another Windows lover acting like an idiot publicly. Why do these guys insist on barging into our web sites and running off their mouths like this. I for one would like to settle the issue through a deathmatch, but I doubt said individual even knows what I am talking about. So instead I will probably just let it go, once again pondering the validity of the first ammendment, and wondering why we as a civilized society got rid of public stoning.

I agree, the man might be brilliant, but there is no need to believe everything that he says as though he has been to the future. I think allot of people are so eager to get answers to questions that don't have answers. As complex as physics has become these days, TRUTH is a pretty shady thing, and facts are more elusive than ever.
OK, lets get technical here real quick. Lucas cannot be bitter about THX not being included in the DVD standared, because THX cannot be included. Let me explain: DTS - Digital Theater Sound, is an audio encoding method. It specifies channel breakdown, frequency, volume level, etc. THX - Is a hardware decoding and distribution specification. It is a standard for actual audio equipment. DTS is played through a THX amp to get 7 point surrond. Besides everyone knows that AC3 beats DTS anyway;)
Oh jeez, I would hate to see MS (a company currently being de-monopolized in the courts) & AT&T (a company that has already been through court ordered de-monopolization). I wonder what kind of terrible things they would attempt to bestow upon the idiot masses. Just think, if we got IBM in on this thing, we could have the crappiest proprietary protocol and software ever. (shudder)

OK, we apparently have some issues here.
1. You are an idiot.
2. You can't spell.
3. Did I mention you are an idiot?

But Debian or Slackware is better than either.

They annouced that this was coming out on the 5th. The announcment is here.
Debian is better anyway...
