Imagine how much better all life would be if the magical sustenance fairy rained everything we needed down upon us from heaven. Why stop at fantasy drugs?
It's not the personal choice that annoys me, it's the evangelism. Good for you and how you choose to live. Leave me out of it.
That also goes for your gods, your software licenses, your sexual proclivities, and everything else you really think I need to do because you like it so much.
Yeah, wouldn't it be great if we can just have everything for free and have the government provide everything? That's genius. And since money magically appears out of nowhere, it's foolproof. Now all we have to do is force people to work and we're golden.
Let's stipulate that drug addiction destroys people. Is the prohibition working to prevent that? Is it your job to prevent me from destroying myself? Can you?
Come off it. She did a lot more than that, and she compounded her actions with additional stupidity. She's a piss-poor candidate to make a sympathy case for anyone who doesn't already agree with you.
I tell you what, if the entitlement crowd, a group of people distinguished by the fact that they refuse to do any work but want rewards anyway, manages to get up off their asses and actually start a revolution, I'll join in sheer amazement. I suspect, however, that it might be a little too difficult and you'll all just call for the rest of us to do it for you while you try to benefit for free.
It has a simple syntax, supports a number of paradigms, and practically everyone has an interpreter for it already installed. It also has a simple, robust UI framework in that interpreter.
I'm just going to interject to present you with an apology from the universe. None of us are required to respect your beliefs. If I choose to refer to your god as cheesus chrisp, king of the snacks, you have no recourse.
You have anything to prove that innovation is crippled? New stuff comes out so regularly we're practically numb to advances now. Innovation seems to be moving along at a pretty decent clip. Taking away the patent system MAY increase that innovation, but there isn't a single scrap of evidence that points in that direction.
Actual Slashdot responses in the related article generally centered around the idea that this demonstrates that the police need tighter controls to ensure they don't abuse their powers, and that recording the police doing their job is a sign of a healthy society where the government isn't afraid of the scrutiny of the people who consent to be governed.
*shrug* it's not gonna hurt me in the long run. They are totally welcome to continue fucking themselves in the name of greed until something gives. Doesn't make me wrong.
Who said I was poopooing the estimates? I could give some, I've designed and built much more complicated systems, but that's not the point. I was addressing the OP's propensity for dismissing the parts he didn't know how to do as easy. That's a foolish attitude, and insidious if allowed unchecked.
I'm helping. In a mean way, so it sticks. I'm a pro, you might want to learn something here.
Did someone make them have a giant family and own lots of things? "I'm greedy, so I need to be more greedy to continue to support my initial greed" is a poor argument. It all comes back around to consuming too much, so you can't justify higher consumption by saying "I need it to support my consumption."

Haters gotta hate.

Take your outmoded sexual ethics to one of those countries that tries to regulate genitalia. We're busy getting over there here.
Yeah that's it, it's a conspiracy. Excellent mind you have there.
Hey, go on and call for things that have no possibility. I never stop anyone from wasting their own time. That is a realistic right.

You want people to supply you with the things that you want out of the goodness of their heart? What utopia do you imagine that happens in?

That whole rich dumb kid thing is from 80s movies and dreams. Rich people generally aren't stupid. Or lazy. Or evil.
That makes a terrible class warfare rallying cry, though.

These are not adults. Adulthood is about actions, not ages.
With maybe another week or two to code the browser plugins? (I've never coded one for either browser, so I have no real means to estimate that.)
No, I took it from your ass. Now you've managed to impress me even less. Web developer indeed.

I like your estimation technique. You share an attitude with most of my clients - you have no idea how to do something, so it must be easy.
I gotta tell you, I've made a lot more money assuming the other way.
No, it was defense research. Guess what the Republicans won't cut any time soon...
Shocking, people figure out ways around the tightest security when the target is worth it.
