In fact Java the language is probably the second least interesting facet of Java the platform. The least interesting is running Java in a web browser, which you seem to think is a major point(?).

Does anyone actually care if Ubuntu stops including Java? Let's not even bother considering that Canonical has shot themselves in the foot, calf, thigh, pelvis, and abdomen with their recent stewardship of the distro, how many people need a desktop with Java on it anyway? Are there that many Java devs using Ubuntu? There sure aren't that many desktop applications written for the platform anymore, and most of them are development tools.
It is a limited time. Pirate people just seem to want that limit to be about zero seconds, producers want as much as possible. Obviously both sides are foaming retards who shouldn't get what they want.

In order to be a proper Slashdotter, it is important to maintain the delusion that Apple does not lead the tech industry. The cognitive dissonance will turn you into a mostly unlikeable person, but it's not like anyone likes nerds anyway so you just go with it.
