    Fuck em. Mac users who nitpick about UI consistencies in an honest fashion would never have enough time to do anything but bitch at Apple for all the little ways they violate the expectations they themselves set. Just now they're getting around to fixing that themselves. Apparently their development model is so difficult that even they can't do it right without a decade to catch up.

    It just seems like there's a serious assumption at the core of this, and a rather elitist (and therefore suspicious) one at that. In order to accept the premise that the RIAA "controls" music I'd have to accept that people don't decide for themselves what they like. I reject that as grousing by disenfranchised nerds who habitually reject anything anyone else likes as "not obscure enough."

    The Nuremberg defense didn't work only because, and this is a very important point, Germany lost. Had they won, it wouldn't have even been a question. Morality doesn't really enter into it from a very practical standpoint.

    the point of being cool is you're not just another random person That's the nerd definition, perhaps, which makes sense considering it's a culture that celebrates the love of obscurity and shunning anything anyone else likes.

    The reality is, being cool is about being cool. Can't be defined. Any attempts to do so peg you as uncool, and you'll probably never know why.
