Many states already have legalized marijuana for use by doctors (for prescriptions). But the U.S. is arbitrarily over-ruling the states, and arresting those States' citizens/doctors, in direct violation of this law: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
Not part of the Chicago machine? Um. Okay. Quoting USA Today:
"Quit job as financial consultant to become community organizer [ACORN employee] in Chicago." "Illinois state Senate, 1997-2005" Nominated to Senate by Governor Blagosovi...Blagodji...Blagosive... the impeached governor.
I know a lady who watched her parents get shot-down in a McDonalds by a criminal.
She is now a *stronger* advocate than ever for the right to bear arms. Quote: "I obeyed that stupid, stupid law, and left my gun in my car, and watched my parents die. I was helpless. Now I ignore the law and carry my gun in case I should need it again." I agree. I'd rather be armed so I cn shoot criminals (like that Muslim psychiatrist) than just sit by and watch helplessly.
Even if the Second Amendment was repealed, your right to bear arms (guns, knives, mace) will still be protected by the Ninth Amendment at the national level, and your State Constitution at the local level.
Here's a disturbing video. Some college students were filming a "movie" for school, and even though they received permission for the shoot, the cops come along and aim GUNS at them! Jeebus! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fC6fsEyXlJ8
It always amazing me how people don't know how to read simple English. The sentence is clear, and can be rewritten like this without altering its original meaning: "The right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed." The original document that was submitted to Congress read like so: "The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. A well armed and well regulated militia being the best security of a free country. But no person religiously scrupulous of bearing arms shall be compelled to render military service in person."
What is the militia? According to the Founders it's the whole of the people. According to Section 311 of US Code Title 10, entitled, "Militia: composition and classes" in its entirety: "(a) The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard. (b) The classes of the militia are -- (1) the organized militia, which consists of the National Guard and the Naval Militia; and (2) the unorganized militia, which consists of the members of the militia who are not members of the National Guard or the Naval Militia."
There's also the Rights enshrined in State Constitutions, which perforce, supersede the U.S. document. My state says this: "All persons have the right to keep and bear arms in defense of themselves, their families, their property and the state." Nearly all the states have similar phrasing. It is an individual right.
Here's one where a TV Station cameraman was arrested! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWnqcQB_L_Y How stupid is that cop? Committing police brutality on a TV station that broadcasts to millions of people???
"Eight armed narcs raided the Dagy home on March 19 and found absolutely nothing. No evidence of pot anywhere, not even stashed in the children's toys. Seems that the coppers mistook the family's constant use of the dishwasher, washer/dryer, three computers, four ceiling fans, and other electronic devices as evidence of a felony drug operation. Oops. The Dagys--Mom's a homemaker and Dad's a general manager of 21 Shell stations--would like an apology from the Carlsbad Police Department. Sadly, we'd recommend that the Dagys not hold their collective breath."
I hate drug cops and homeland security. They keep performing these heinous searches and "eating out the substance" of our citizens
Hopefully U.S. anti-marijuana laws will be declared unconstitutional (where was Congress given authority to completely ban a naturally-growing plant?) before this Smart Grid is implemented, and then it won't matter if you are using grow lights or not.
SCOTUS threw out his conviction because the cops violated his 4th amendment rights. I would think that the use of electricity usage data should play out the same way, but who knows!/quote>Hey Glenn Beck!
So much for the right to be presumed innocent until PROVED guilty.
Why do you quote US sentences with other countries? "Innocent until proved guilty" comes from US, and while usually true elsewhere too, you seem to just flame with this shit again.
-1 Ignorant. The phrase comes from the United Kingdom which is what the GP was discussing in regards to the "share your password or spend time in jail" comment.
No not really. The earth was empty. Then homo sapiens filtered out from Southern Africa and laid claim to all these empty spaces. Whoever arrived first claimed ownership, created farmland, and passed it down from father to son to grandson (or sold it to neighbors). The concept of "first to arrive, first to lay claim to the property" is an ancient concept that predates written history.
I live in Greece - must I accept the orders of some byzantine emperor who handed off acres of land to monasteries as not only "legitimate property" but actually a "natural right"?
No not really. My knowledge of that history is foggy, but it sounds like the Emperor violated the natural rights of whoever originally owned the land. He basically stole it from those farmers. He infringed upon their rights.
If people *choose* to live in a rural location outside the city borders, then they should shoulder the burden of paying a higher billing rate [for their electricity or phone or net service], rather than being subsidized [by their city neighbors' wallets]. And here's multiple articles from Environmentalists who agree with me:
Read this book: When History Is a Nightmare: Lives and Memories of Ethnic Cleansing in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Europe. As evil as Microsoft, Comcast, and other corporations may be, at least they don't have the power to imprison or kill people for carrying the wrong DNA (like governments have done time-and-time-and-time again).
Oh okay. I did not realize people are "trolls" for not knowing information about obscure console "fat" versus "slim" variants, and which ones can or can not use Linux without hacking.
You earned it thanks to a highly evolved social/financial environment that was created using tax dollars.
Completely and totally wrong.
People were working and bartering for payment looooong before the government existed. A man offered his labor; another man offered payment in terms of good or services (like shelter). Government was not involved at all.
Rights don't come from the Man in the Sky. Rights come from being human beings. Like instincts. They are a natural consequence of man's desire to be liberated.
However when you rob your neighbors wallets to buy some poor person a car, or house, or internet, then you've infringed upon your neighbors' freedoms (theft of their labor). Nobody has a right to harm another in this fashion.
As a business owner, the last thing I want to do is get in some public pissing match..... The point is, speech may be a fundamental right, but that doesn't strip it of its consequences.
You'd rather do what Mr. Brodie did, and go through the hassle of a lawsuit, in order to prove "speech has consequences"?!?!? Not me. I'd rather follow that other guy's advice and post the photos. That would be enough to shutdown any idiots on a forum. No need to use libel law or otherwise involve the government
"On the other hand if my store is dirty, then what right do I have to silence my customers opinions? I have no such right." Witch is exactly right. Libel has to be untrue.
Yeah but too many times Libel laws are used like a bat to scare the customers (the ones saying DD is dirty) into silence. The laws are simply bad ideas which favor powerful businesses to smash people like us underfoot.
The third option requires stealing money from neighbors to fund the installation costs. i.e. The third one is a violation of property and labor rights.
Precisely. It is unfathomable why some people believe, if they want a free home or car or computer, they have a right to raid their neighbors' wallets to get it. I'm not going to say the "t-word" but that's basically what it is
So like I said, this law VIOLATES human rights. It requires stealing money from your neighbors to fund the installation costs of broadband. That's an infringement upon their property and labor rights.
No I don't object. Roads are funded by people who use them. Don't use them? Then you don't pay the gasoline/road tax. That's a 99.9% fair system (not perfect but close).
Yes I object. If people *choose* to live in a rural location outside the city borders, then they should shoulder the burden of paying a higher billing rate, rather than being subsidized. (And I'm not alone in this opinion, since many Greens and Environmentalist Democrats agree.)
I work my ass off earning money, as do nearly-all my neighbors. That's OUR money. We earned it. Why should we have to give-up our sweat & labor to somebody else? That's no different than if that person held me at gunpoint and mugged me. The only difference is he's using the government as his gun.
+ 1 brother
And no I don't think "all" taxes are theft. Taxes that are universally beneficial to every citizen, like funds for police to protect homes, are just fine with me. Also constitutional.

Ihardly think lumping everyone in an entire political party together and calling all of them stupid is itself a very intelligent thing to do.
No it's prejudiced.
And possession of the earth is arbitrary
