Please.. I have a 12 guage auto. Certainly you dont *NEED* a semi-automatic weapon for hunting and people can argue whether they are even useful for hunting.. But I like not having to pump in between shots. Thats just me exercising my right to bear arms. Not just 'some arms' WRONG its not worded like that at all. Its an all or nothing deal and its its not all.. soon it will be nothing.

If you let even something simple like that get by pretty soon you have nothing.

We know NT does not have that......I am and always will be amazed at how well the novell machine chugs along with 10 people hitting it all day. *shrugs* Novell will disappear before to long.. But the question is intended to throw him off some and it sort of expresses a point of view of the authors so its not probably the fairest question since hes being a bit subjective.

I have used Kdevelop for some time and I love it. It is one of the few big projects I actually bothered hacking to compile on FreeBSD w/o a port. (this was a while ago :-)

Anyone who thinks they can exceed by a great margin the learning curve/productivity level of someone who is a veteran with VC++/KDevelop is mistaken. It takes a *god* in order to do much more.

I forced myself to become very proficient with Vi.. and im probably better/more productive WITH Vi.. But I still choose to use KDevelop because *I* do a lot of work with VC++ and VB. (Hold down CTRL+SHIFT arrows to select).. blah at work and to come home and not have to switch thinking modes when I feel like hacking some mud code.. sweet. Keep it coming I like it a lot.

I cannot tell the difference in anything except the debugging process. VC++ is GOOD. GDB gives it a good run for its money if you force yourself to become *god* with it tho. In fact I find GDB a little easier to use so the debugger thing could be a no again.. this is just me tho point.

Basically its just an awesome product and I really hate to see people slam it saying Vi or Emacs!!!! Open your mind a little and realize these are just tools to complete a job. Use what suits you best but dont Bias yourself towards a tool of equal quality just because you dont think its the *nix way.

I happen to think that Emacs is really great and I would prefer I could use Emacs all day all over.. but I cant so I am making trade offs for my sanity *snaps*.

After reading that article I am slightly more impressed with Sun as far as hardware goes. I have had the chance to use a Few Sparc's in my time and own a Dual 73Mhz Sparc with 256M of Ram It runs lots of muds! :)

I love it and I got it for around 1000 Dollars and I dont think I would trade it for a dual 400Mhz Celeron system any time.

Sounds a little silly I am sure because the celerons are mostly likely smoking fast and the 2 or 3 people continually compiling on the server would be happy.. but its been up and running for over 2 years!

I have had to take it down twice. Once to add 128M of ram a friend bought for me and another time to add a *much* bigger HD for it

No other downtimes or little weird things. I also have a linux server and I *have* to reboot it maybe every 2 days or so. Faulty hardware or what I dont know but it takes some serious hits from people compiling a lot on it and you could compile once and the mud would compile fine.. Try again and gcc is terminating with some obscure error. I read and read and searched for anything on the error. I looked *everywhere* and tried elmost everything under the sun and it would still do it intermittently. still does.. :-(.

And just reading about how delayed the Ultra SparcIII that is impressive. They are not just rushing the chip to market. They are refning it and fixing bugs so that it does not have like 60+ bugs like a PIII ( 60!! holy shit I paid over 240 dollars for mine ). NOT cool.Anyways im sort of rambling. But I do think sun sells superior products. I just would rather have a MS software dominated world with sun hardware.. *keeps dreaming*
