That making things difficult for would-be rampagers is actually a very good deterrent. Also, not having the US cowboy mentality, surely helps Canadians.
Alcohol is not made to kill things. Guns are. No civilized country manages to ban alcohol. Many civilized countries manage to control weapons and have no experience of school shootings.

As a rabid atheist, I approve the parent post. You just don't remove crutches from people when they most need it. Compassion and empathy are supposed to be secular and humanist values as well.

This is a typically american attitude of solving problems with guns.
