Dune had a lot of words that were unknown by english readers, but were known by arabic ones. It also came with a glossary. (I don't know if NS's book came with one, but it sounds like it should have)
- "And please, will the characters who "have never had a crash or blip" in 10 years of "heavy use" not contribute. I'm sick of these people. They're full of it." Which, again, would indicate that not only he's not joking, but he thinks that anyone who hasn't had those newbie problems is, in his own words, "full of it."
Dvorak certainly deserves to be ignored. But the above quote that he made certainly had an effect. I can remember the above statements (using phrases like "heavy use") being made by a huge assortment of ACs every time someone posted about a windows bug anywhere (even slashdot), and it went on for years. After dvorak said that... it seems to have stopped. I haven't seen another person claim that ever since.
it sounds like splitting up the company as part of the DoJ vs M$ trial, if it was done along those business unit lines , could have had almost no affect at all... just made it harder in future to prove collusion.
if someone does a movie parody , I'd love to see a fake add that says

I've managed to get wikipedia to fit on a knoppix ISO image. I started off with the CD iso , turned on mysql and apache , installed mediawiki , and put on the iso a wikipedia database file , which I made from the sql dumps that the wikipedia foundation put out. (although now they don't , its xml only apparently)
That , plus all the images I could fit , is about 4.1G. I've got a first version done , I'm just trying to get the thing uploaded somewhere so people can help with further development. I hope to go to a dual layer dvd , to fit on about 4G more images.
The fact that you have to reboot your machine to use it is a bit of a bummer , hopefully there's some way to run qemu or vmware off the disk , so the disk can boot itself inside a VM.
play the single player mission for TA , called "krogoth encounter".
The krogoth is a core robot that must take over half an hour to make. Its got missiles , laser guns and cannons. If you destroy it , it causes high damage to everything else around it.
I swear , the mission is so freaking hard that even if you do the only thing you can to survive (build barriers around your base to keep out all of the enemy robots , including the krogoths) it still takes at least 6 hours to complete the level , and thats if you know where everything is. if a single barrier gets destroyed , you're screwed. you might be able to destroy one krogoth, but the next will wipe out the few remaining robots you have left.
I sent a 100+ fleet of tanks and cars against a small core army that had two krogoths in it , and I swear not a single one got within 7 tank lengths of them. they got slaughtered. I didn't even see the fog of war lift from the core army so I could see them. All I saw was thin blue lines fired from the krogoths, and exploding tanks.
Bertha cannons don't even cross half the play area. And if you use them , you're in danger of firing on your own barrier and letting them in. If you don't build factories behind a wall , they get smashed by all of the core heavy guns that litter the area.
Oh yeah , and a lot of the cool advanced units that arm has are not available to you in this mission. no camoflaging fusion generators for j00.

will they behave more like searchers from the Chronicles of Riddick?
whoever thought up that movie was on drugs. Not the cheap stuff though.
I've heard of copper tracks that become unstuck from sis motherboards. You know things are bad when they can't even get the glue right.
how about making copyright non-transferable?
I'd prefer to stay stupid. Thanks.
yup , I enjoyed those as well :)

does the same reasoning extend to compilers?

So basically you boot the disk , start a web browser , go to http://localhost/wikipedia/index.php , and you can start searching for articles.

couldn't you have set up all those links ? :)
it would just be a poor copy of a revolution, in name only.
