Aw man, now THAT is a flashback...Yosemite Sam...ahhh Bugs Bunny.
But honestly, I think there's way too much focus on the accuracy of Wiki Articles...Everyone attacks their validity, but let's face it, 90% of the things on there are cited and true...Sure, I wouldn't use Wiki to find out information of political figures or celebrities for a paper, but it's frustrating to be denied use of a wiki article when it comes to things like music and art, because such specific things just don't get the same attention on the net, and the best resource for finding information out about your favourite 80's cartoon is Wikipedia. When someone enters in a BS entry, it gets pulled so fast that the intended joke of the entry is seen by only a small handful of people.
People are just too afraid of change, and too afraid of not being able to 100% control the information that flows.
I agree with this...what a step back for music...how two faced, to offer your music up free, and then turn your back on it and go crawling back to the big corporations. I've lost considerable respect for Radiohead after this.
Ok seriously, I don't get this. This news post seems to have a lot to do with Nintendo shipping more to Europe due to a weak dollar...
So why the fuck does half the comments have to do with the definitions of various parts of BRITLAND, and slavery. WHAT DOES SLAVERY HAVE TO DO WITH WII FIT BEING SHIPPING TO EUROPE.
NOTHING!!! Can't you guys just for once stay on topic and not rant and rave about how awesome your country is, and how shitty your country is. Who cars! Let's talk about Wii Fit!
So yeah...Wii Fit...crazy Nintendo
I mean is this a TOTAL problem? Sure, it's a problem for Craigslist, but in the longrun, it's not going to really affect the people who use Craigslist...a Hostile takeover by eBay could bring things like fees and such to Craigslist and drag it down to the same level as eBay, and that would most certainly suck, but just as craigslist was started something else would rise to replace it....I'm sure plenty of people have lists
Bobslist....Steveslist....Frankslist....they're all pretty catchy. Regardless, it's another case of the big guy going after the little guy for money, and this usually turns into a deepest pockets kind of thing, unless Craigslist can keep the rest of its shareholders from giving into a possible future hostile takeover that might stem from this lawsuit.
The point is, these contests are extremely stupid because they do nothing FOR consumers. Consumer's aren't helped in the least by cars that get 2 thousand miles to the gallon. Why waste time building it? Why not be more constructive an figure out a way to build/and or lower the cost of production of existing fuel efficient cars that really do make some sort of difference on the road? Shit like this is so bogus and a waste of everyones time.
What an accomplishment!! Let's get these things mass produced asap and onto the highways. Oh boy, we've got the big oil companies by the balls now!
Car prolly doesn't even have an AM/FM radio. PSSSSSH
It's more of a surprise that there's slashdotters out there who read this stuff, HAVE the choice between two or more hi-speed providers, and choose Comcast.
But yeah, it's not surprising they get stupid people in with their colourful billboards, flashy TV ads, and bogus promises for hi-speed. You show people a rainbow of colours, come up with a catchphrase, and lots of money to put it everywhere, and people are going to buy into it mindlessly. And when they have problems with their internet, they won't question Comcast, because it couldn't be THEIR fault that the internet is slow...I mean, it's comcastic, right?
The sad thing is that even with all this negative stuff being dragged into the light and Comcast being caught with their dick caught in the zipper, people still subscribe to this service. Obviously it's mostly due in part to the fact that in many places Comcast is all that is offered, but people who have a choice and still use Comcast....
What happens if you try and drink from your tea cup? Can we put alcohol in our teacups and mix data with booze? bring a whole new meaning to "sippin' on haterade"? Accidently lose all your files when you mistakenly pour a real beverage into your computer tea cup? And why would anyone want to pour data anywhere? What would happen if you dropped the cup? Would data just explode all over the floor? How do you clean up spilled data? Does one cry over spilled data, like they do over spilled milk?
I prefer my drag and drop just fine...let's stick with dragging files onto tabletops before we start spilling them all over the place
Last thing we need is some slashdotter accidently spilling his porn folder on the coffee table instead of his excel project.
I don't think people are quite ready for this one...
I suspect a government coverup here. I think us slashdotters could blow this whole thing wide open with a little snooping...
But seriously, I enjoyed the articles neutral point of view in that both parties are to blame, apple for bailing on Carbon, and Adobe for neglecting Cocoa. Oh well, I'm still stuck in the middle ages with my CS2, so I'm wholly unaffected by all of this.
I don't understand the rush for change to begin with...I mean, let's use the term EXTREMELY loosely here, just for a moment...but why is there always such a rush to put out new iterations of an old system? making changes and forcing people to relearn everything....Now for that phrase I referred to earlier
why fix what isn't broken?
Sure, XP wasn't PERFECT, but Vista is such a major departure from previous iterations of Windows, and its been met with such negative response from the general public...Obviously Microsoft sees this and is slowly admitting it by constantly slipping in more and more of these extensions. A lot of people don't want to switch over and Microsoft has been losing a lot of customers to Apple and Linux as a result of its push for change in its customers.
When you come out and tell people that you're eventually going to cease support on a product they love, and only support a product they don't want, and tell them "Upgrade or die", they're going to jump ship. Computers have moved into a generation of people that don't like change, and aren't willing to change.
Botany Bay is to be used to house all Botany Bay is actually quite a nice place now. The people we really don't like get sent to Woomera, Christmas Island and Naru. I seem to remember a country that sent people it didn't like to another island too a long time ago...hmmmmm
I don't know what happened, but upon installation and opening I now have three forward/back buttons....I just don't know which one to choose when I want to click back!! there's so many choices! I imagine this problem will fix itself if I close out, but I don't know if I want it to go away just yet hah.
Everyone's been saying this since the RIAA STARTED suing people way back in the Napster days...this is something I'd expect to see in a NEWSPAPER...whoops mixing up my articles here.
I love how XP computers are still making headlines in their releases...News like this has to be a real slap in the face to Microsoft with the tireless Vista promotion, when XP is still big news.
We dropped Comcast's internet and cable TV the moment FiOS came into the neighborhood....it came at a good time because their internet was blacking out on us all the time. It would just flutter for anywhere between a few seconds to a few minutes to a few hours and it was a real hassle playing games online and suddenly losing connection out of nowhere...And we ALWAYS had problems with artifacting with their cable. the picture always started getting these little green boxes everywhere during a program. Comcast had a pretty extensive On Demand list, and FiOS kind of lacks that, but there's more ups than downs.
Location really plays a key roll in where the newspapers die out in. Like some comments have pointed out, some small towns rely on newspapers for news, but in other areas, television and the internet are a much larger medium for getting news. print is dead in most places, and is too slow to get the word out. By the time the paper comes out, we've already heard the story at least a dozen times on the 6 oclock and 11 oclock news, read it online and 4 different sites, and heard it from 3 friends who also saw it.
The newspaper may be losing it's popularity, but it's not really going anywhere anytime soon. It's still going to be a common site on trains and buses in big cities for years to come, but as a defining news source, it's fallen off the wagon, and there's really no getting back on. It's time has come and gone, and it was inevitably going to happen with changing technology.
Hell, I always use google for spellchecking... instead of learning how to spell the word, I just see what google says.
Google doesn't make us stupid...that is unpossible!!
Aw man, now THAT is a flashback...Yosemite Sam...ahhh Bugs Bunny. Information wants to be free, yo.

"The TEGA ovens, which are about an inch long and the diameter of a pencil lead" I wonder if it can roast a turkey dinner...
Like omg! Linux is run by murders!! Down with Linux! Down with open source! End the murderous rampage and burn your copy of Linux!

It's sarcasm. No shit it's not for production. Like they're really going to make a car that gets 2k mpg for mass consumption. go back under your rock.
What an accomplishment!! Let's get these things mass produced asap and onto the highways. Oh boy, we've got the big oil companies by the balls now! Car prolly doesn't even have an AM/FM radio. PSSSSSH

Isn't there a lesser of two evils thing here? I mean Comcast doesn't exactly cater to P2P either. To each their own, I suppose.
The sad thing is that even with all this negative stuff being dragged into the light and Comcast being caught with their dick caught in the zipper, people still subscribe to this service. tarred and feathered?

Ok let me be more specific, when in this post 9/11 world, has the government presented evidence in its claims and crusades.
When has the government ever presented a shred of evidence for any of their radical claims and crusades?

Is a story concerning who 4chan's latest victim was really slashdot news? Slow news day much?
