Let me get this straight. The encyclopedia Britannica will now be powered through user generated (but not user selected) articles... To me, it sounds like they're getting free work for a paid product.
1. Make encyclopedia
2. Get a lot of people to submit articles for free
3. Pay a few people to edit and select the best articles
4. ???????
5. Profit!
so, the guy who lives below me smokes 24/7. I have the right to a smoke free home. His smoke fills my home.... by your argument, my freedom allows me to move away or deal with it?
wow. If I was american, I'd expect this, there are no personal rights in the USA anymore. but I'm not american...
but it shouldn't be. at least it should be illegal anywhere I have to deal with it. Yeah, smokers have the right to smoke. But I have the right not to smoke. And I don't violate their right... but they often violate mine.
On the bright side, 28->42 days is only an extra 2 weeks... the Patriot Act allows the US government to lock people up FOREVER without charge. ... yeah, but on the down side, you're still locked up. It would be better just to avoid living in either country...
I'm sure they'd want the CCTV cameras to be tied into some sort of national registry with facial recognition and some sort of RFID scanning/implaning/automatical arrest booth at each corner...
When I heard that a company was making an inexpensive computer with great battery life, adequete performance and it was going to be 'ultra portable', I was so happy!... then they released it and it was more expensive than originally planned, and not quite as robust.
... and now nVidia is going to do the same thing to me.
' The insiders' post-mortems of the failed dot-coms are interesting â" several suggest the concepts were good but too early for their time, while others identify specific factors that led to the failures â" ranging from a lack of advertising to 'intense' greed." ...
lack of advertising and intense greed are generally two reasons ANY business fails. It isn't specific to the dot com bust; if they didn't have a good business idea, or they were too greedy or they didn't advertise ANY business, it would fail.
So, microsoft says "Free software might lead to lesser sales" and "Paid Alternatives not as attractive as Free ones!"
I'd say they're right.. but I'm also surprised that anyone has to say anything at all...
AND, well, Google isn't distributing alternative OSes, and the FOSS community IS... and what would be a bigger threat to Microsoft - Alternative OS or... adsense. Hmmm...
So, we've got another service pack for the infallable mac osx.
I'm hardly stating the popular opinion, but vista only has 1 service pack so far... and osx has 3 - and the hardware to run osx is much more expensive, but virtually the same. (then again, at least it is OSX-ready)
Hardcore players WILL use it because the input method that IS undignified... I've seen lots of people who are hardcore and... like ddr and guitar hero...
I guess you're right... if we're talking about 8 gig SSDs in tiny, underpowered but portable netbooks. SSDs have been in use in cellphones for awhile.... as flash memory. The EEE is only slightly more functional than a full featured palm device or blackberry, and both use flash memory as well.
I was talking about home computers, work computers, computers that do more than just check email and the occasional word processing... I've got a solid state 'drive' as a flash drive right now bigger than the 'hard drive' on some of the entry level EEEs... I certainly don't think it would be sufficient for a full function computer...

what you're trying to ask is ... can anyone without a $3000 computer run this?
I'm sure they'd want the CCTV cameras to be tied into some sort of national registry with facial recognition and some sort of RFID scanning/implaning /automatical arrest booth at each corner...
what health care? and your gas prices are lower than almost anywhere else in the world...
Of course it does... well no, not anymore.
Now, if you under utilize your connection, you're just giving the cable companies free money, since they're charging people who go over.
Also... rogers has been doing this in canada for several months.

They've only just introduced legislation; basically it is like proposing a law. Doesn't mean squat!
Year Of The Linux Desktop ... Again!
You're right about the price. I payed a lot more for God of War on my PSP and got a lot less play time (and comedy)...
what insurgents? OH .. the ones that were hiding with the WMDs in iraq. Right. I forgot...

do you play guitar hero? Do you know someone who does?

and your faith in your intellegence leads others to believe that there is no intellegence at all, only faith...
and yes, I know they eventually dropped TPM.
... and not working.
Probably because it was driving costs up
whoops... here's the link for TPM & Apple ...
http://www.osxbook.com/book/bonus/chapter10/tpm/
TPM isn't going to solve anything.
Look at apple! Apple uses a TPM chip to prevent osx on non-apple hardware... BUT clearly it didn't work.
Maybe the atari guys havn't heard of el-jobso and his merchants of 'cool'
you should try reading the comment thread (similar to reading the article) before posting. Really, it would help you avoid looking stupid.
