    greatest achievements of humankind ? are you kidding me ? We have been (40 years ago) sending a few men of the moon, but haven't fixed any of mankind's problem here on earth. The moon landing was a political race to show the Russians that Americans had the biggest.

    It might has well had been solved by having Khrushchev and Nixon in a contest about who was pissing the further away...

    But democracy doesn't scale. It might works for a city the size of ancient Athens (ie. about 60k citizens), but it is deemed to fails for a a 300 millions inhabitants country.

    And who decide about "general improvements to society" ? Who decide about resource affectation ? Most of the time, it's unelected officials. There was a poll in BC about increasing tax to fund for public transportation but it failed, because the current sentiment that the current [monopolistic] company handling public transportation sucks. That's the problem with publicly funded project, most of the time, they have a very low value efficiency.

    To the contrary, I do believe that communism is, ethically wise, the most perfect system, however, when accounting for human nature, capitalism is the less worst. I'd love to live in a free energy infinite resource star-trek utopia, where nobody has to work. However, even such system is imperfect, as certain things humans need are not quantifiable by materialism, and it's certainly far from a free (as in "libre") world.

    Democracy might not evolve to socialism, but it would require people to be informed and well-educated. Socialism is merely driven by emotion, which is unfortunately where most democracy tends to go to, which is what fuel Democrats.

    There isn't much technical limits to remotely fly a C-130. But to answer your question, some existing drones have a 3T payload (see http://www.kaman.com/aerospace...).
