Let me ask you... How does somebody 'pay for another's BMW', if they can't afford food?
Blood, sweat, and tears... Our wages and standard of living have stagnated or been going down for at least the last 30 years, while the top 1% have been raking in record profits and their incomes are up at least 25% from the products of our labor.

The 9/80 isnt too bad, I really like 3 day weekends. the worst part is the middle of winter when youre arriving and leaving in the dark. also make sure your company changes the holidays to 9 hrs, my company screwed us that way 8hr holidays so if you want the full paycheck you have to use a vacation hr to make the difference:(
I just bought this: ATX compatible power supply from a company called MpegBox, it was designed for a car mp3 player based on the mini ITX style board. works pretty well and I have no complaints.
the timing for this article was funny. check out the fortune I got just this morning:
SEMINAR ANNOUNCEMENT
Title: Are Frogs Turing Compatible? Speaker: Don "The Lion" Knuth
ABSTRACT
Several researchers at the University of Louisiana have been studying the computing power of various amphibians, frogs in particular. The problem of frog computability has become a critical issue that ranges across all areas of computer science. It has been shown that anything computable by an amphi- bian community in a fixed-size pond is computable by a frog in the same-size pond -- that is to say, frogs are Pond-space complete. We will show that there is a log-space, polywog-time reduction from any Turing machine program to a frog. We will suggest these represent a proper subset of frog-computable functions.
This is not just a let's-see-how-far-those-frogs-can-jump seminar. This is only for hardcore amphibian-computation people and their colleagues.
Refreshments will be served. Music will be played.

poptronics had an article about this a few months ago. they offered a sit tone to put on your answering machine:

The reason for the high voltage running through the line is to power repeaters every 100 miles or so. Why not just tap into one of the repeaters, which convert the optical signal into electronic signals and then back again? Sounds pretty easy to me, given the right equipment. As for sorting the data the repeater is able to deal with it as is the router or whatever is on the receiving end so why wouldnt whatever technology the nsa has. The problem would be storage.
Heres a company that makes solar roofing systems

so you can subtract the cost of reroofing your
house from the total cost of solar. That and here
in california the state will pay 50% to install a solar system!

This is already possible, Napster is using the fingerprinting tech from a company named Relatable. There is an Open Source audio metadata client using the same tech available from www.musicbrainz.org (formerly cdindex.org). Their database is under the OpenContent license at opencontent.org . The mp3 player Freeamp also uses this data to organize your music collection.
Freeamp is the best jukebox program I have found for linux. Too bad Realjukebox doesnt run in linux.

Tesla invented the alternating current motor, he did not invent alternating current(AC). At the time AC was known to be easier to produce and more efficient to transmit but had to be rectified (turned to DC) to drive motors. this was very inefficient and the motors wore out quickly. AC motors have only 1 moving part so are more economical. this invention revolutionized the electrical industry (power to the people:). we still use basically the same tech today. also Teslas power distribution scheme used the earth to transmit electricity. A separate idea of his was to energize the ionosphere to light up the sky like a huge florescent lightbulb so ships could see at night.
