To be completely honest, I really don't care, as long as:
- The materials are sold to me in a "new" condition
- If it requires any sort of registration key, I better not ever find out it's already been registered
And that's what it comes down to. Since these are console games the registration key shouldn't apply. If someone is that concerned about the condition, just take a look at the disc before buying. It's really a non-issue.
Well, if we're all doomed anyways we should at least go out in style. First one to throw together a spacebat-esque montage of Kim Jong-Il's antics wins.
The whole article is completely devoid of any insight. It's as if they just strung together random adjectives for four pages.
How does spewing "easy to learn, difficult to master" in several different ways then saying "call them 'catchy', not 'addictive'" at the end warrant an article?
This reads like a really sleazy sales pitch, along the lines of "Did you know that top billionaires take my supplement to boost their brain power?"
I stopped reading right there.
I too, stopped reading there. I then went to post a comment mocking the tone of the first line. Seeing that had already been done thoroughly, I went back and read one more line.
For those of you who haven't, or for the less discerning (or, perhaps less blog-oriented), this book provides an excellent entry into the writings of Rands.
... and stopped there due to the use of "blog-oriented" and "entry into the writings of _____" in the same sentence.
Your opinion is just as bad as those of the creationists in that if we can't comprehend it now, then we aren't meant to comprehend it.
I think he's referring to the feeling that we need to break things down into traditional categories (think wave vs particle) for them to "make sense" on an intuitive level. This is very different than never being able to comprehend them.
Imaginary money is useful stuff. I use it on a somewhat regular basis. The key is to remember that you have to replace it all with real money, eventually, or there's trouble.
I've always found it interesting that people are so willing to accept my pieces of paper for real, solid goods.
The difference between USD and monopoly money is just a matter of confidence.
All the memories written into those ones and zeroes will quickly be forgotten, and no one will walk those grounds again
All the more reason to make sure you're actually having fun playing. Too many people think they're accomplishing something and end up ignori...
.... BOP EPIC!! Finally, about time that trinket dropped. I mean really they need to up the drop rate, or make it boe, all this grinding is ridiculous.
First thing that caught my eye was the "Framerates should improve for everyone." next to the graphic.
Second was "I'm sorry folks, but 9GB for a modern day MMO is not that big" then "After sitting in a queue for awhile I finally got in and created my first character."
Just read part of the Blind Watchmaker by Richard Dawkins. Paragraph I left off on starts with
It is not possible to prove that acquired characteristics are never inherited. For the same reason we can never prove that fairies do not exist. All we can say is that no sightings of fairies have ever been confirmed and that such alleged photographs of them as have been produced are palpable fakes.
The article does seem to be a bit of stretch, especially ending with "However, he cautions, there is no direct evidence of this, and no specific evidence that the behaviors are transmitted through epigenetic mechanisms."
Seriously, if you break your TV with a remote, its your fault.
I disagree. Clearly my inability to hold on to a remote with my greasy cheetos-covered hand is a fundamental online rights issue. Hence the tags for this story.
Hanlon's Razor sounds like it should be renamed to "The GWB Principle"
Or is it more 'Any sufficiently advanced malice is indistinguishable from incompetence.'
This is another example where the intention of the law doesn't mean anything, what is actually written and what that can be stretched to mean does.
This is rather troublesome. If these situations continue our representatives may be forced to actually read the legislation they're passing.

... that pre-played was the way to go. Now there's no difference at all!
I dare you, I double dare you - do the right thing for a change.
After seeing the efforts to 'do the right thing' in Vista, I'd prefer Microsoft sticks to doing the wrong things consistently.
Better the devil you know...
Has some of the best glitches. The gameplayer list definitely needs more nes/snes titles.
Putting effective ICBMs in the hands of someone like Kim Jong Il is insanely irresponsible.
It's not as dangerous as it first appears. All you need to do is make a few hollywood blockbusters with the right theme and he'll disarm instantly.
First (and last) post!

Will selling a fake item be considered fraud?
Depends on the country. There's been numerous cases of it happening already.

MindArk's going to be just like a bank in the real world...
... complete with the service charges!
Including a minimum withdrawal of 100 USD and a service charge of 10 USD (or higher) per withdrawal.
Do Games With Real Endings Fail?
Only if they can't spin it into a low cost sequel.
If it was really closed off hard they may need to resort to time travel, alternate dimensions, or the ever popular "it was all a dream" approach.

What was I saying again?
Brad Chen touched on it a few times in the video. Currently wouldn't support it and any future plans were still up in the air.
Admittedly, it's after past 1AM, so maybe my maths stopped working by now, but isn't 2^13 about 8000 dollars for the grand prize?
I contacted Google and their reply confirms your approximate amount.

If this is a monster movie, I'd hate to think what ActiveX was.

I'm afraid to read more.
It's annoying on so many levels.

It is not the state's place to try to protect *ANY* person's business.
When arguments go too far. Next up, business owner robs competitor, says arrest amounts to encouraging monopolies.
and we as the people who it was supposed to serve now need to take back what is ours.
That explains the Ace of Base tracklist. You didn't listen to it though... right?
The navy liked their version of minesweeper best.
