Cigarettes are, in this country at least, taxed all to hell and back. So I said fuck you, government, you aren't attacking middle eastern shitholes with my tax money. That, and Zyban, were enough to get me through.

Been years without cigarettes now. And at no point did I feel wonderful beyond belief, but I accept that my health is much better now and I KNOW that shit would have killed me.

They attacked the middle east anyway, but I no longer smoke. Your motivation may vary.

At some point someone has to clean up the most violent murderers of society. Someone has to be willing to do what others won't in order to protect everyone - including those who would not make the effort to protect society from people like McGuire.

Nobody likes these things. We are not a pack blood thirsty mongrels waiting for another chance to harm someone under the guise of law and order. But at some point someone needs to make sure people like McGuire don't get a chance to practice their craft ever again.

This sounds like the leadin to the origin story of any comicbook superhero.

The people who pay the wages are already complaining that the minimum wage is too high. Try telling them that their entry-level staff need to be paid $200/hr for a 10 hr week. No matter how necessary this is for the maintenance of markets and the health of society. Our current economic models call for infinite growth from a closed system. Significant labour replacement totally breaks all current economic models.

This doesn't explain it to me. I find it difficult to believe one can complete elementary school and deny evolution, much less sustain the falsehood to voting age. How is it that these people think medicine works, e.g. antibiotic resistance, or more simply how we have different types of dogs? Assuming that children have been taught religion, how is later dissonance not resolved in favour of the outcome for which evidence exists?
