You should've stayed logged in. Microsoft did not throw anyone out, they just forbid some people to come back when they leave.;-)
I'll quote the BitlBee FAQ here about this matter:
Will MSN ever work again?
In theory: Yes. Gaim still works, so with some efforts those fixes should be portable to BitlBee. That's going to be quite a lot of work though.
Unfortunately Microsoft is threatening with the DMCA to anyone who touches "their protocol". Probably not a big issue, but certainly not something we want to have trouble with. Even though the local European/Dutch law allows reverse-engineering for interoperability, we don't feel like being banned from the USA, especially not by Microsoft.
Anyway, ATM backporting changes from Gaim would be a waste because the current IM-system used by BitlBee is about to be ditched in favour of something new/better, which means all the efforts put into a fix would be wasted. We know we've been saying this for ages, but this time we really mean it!;-)
And as always, if you do feel like spending your time on this, go ahead and write a patch. We'll see what we can do. Let's hope DMCA doesn't prohibit our site to link to your patch. Oh, sorry, I promised to stop being paranoid eh?
ATM I don't feel like wasting my time on this, especially as long as they're still talking about these licenses. I can't imagine they won't cut off Gaim and other clients again soon. Why would anyone buy such a license right now if they can get on the network without one as well?
PFwahh!! Debian supports more than just Linux. You can even run it on NetBSD or The HURD. Not that they are very stable now already, but I can get rid of Linux soon, I hope.
Hint: 2.4.15-greased-turkey. Don't mod me down for one of Linus' brown paper bag bugs..
Score:0? Aha, I see that most moderators love RedHat. *sigh*
Just try to install RedHat on an old 486 box with a small (100MB) hard disk and you'll know why RedHat is not Linux anymore. It's not light. It's not small. It's not fast. Not on el cheapo systems, at least. But the low system requirements are just exactly the best thing in Linux!
apt-get is another thing, of course. And the better policy/standards. No messing with dependencies. apt-get for rpm exists, I know, but it doesn't allow you to install rpm's on any Linux distro you want, does it? RPM names are still very incompatible accross distro's.
I run -ac kernels for quite some time, they're just far more stable than the main 2.4 tree. Ext3 is in there for quite some time already.. I don't understand why people think that, if Linus likes it, it must finally be stable: Linus is just exactly messing up things lately. It's for that reason that I still have to run 2.2 on my server. 2.4 is not really stable yet.
This used to be true, but lately a kid-geek is becoming more and more 'normal', I think. Just take a look at the people who participate at Olympiads for Informatics, for example. A lot of them are experienced UNIX users, and not just linux-freaks...
But I know of my own experience when I were young, I didn't care about filling in my address, phone number etc. and just filled it in every place where it was possible (not even required.) Only when you're older, you start to care about things like that!
Just search on freshmeat and you'll find OpenBIOS, Free BIOS, Linux BIOS and GNU BIOS . It might be possible that even more projects like this exist...
I can't imagine that the 'New Microsoft' will really be independent of 'Windows Inc'. Would it really change the situation? The new Microsoft would probably continue making Windows-only apps but now they just have to distribute Windows and MSIE separately.
Yes. Jackson wanted to split Microsoft into two companies. OS+software. I've advised Jackson not to do that, but to split Microsoft into three companies.
One company to produce OS'es (DOS/W2k/NT) One company to produce GUI's (W9x/W3.x) One company to produce additional software (Office, Internet Explorer, etc.)
A man in the Philippines??? I thought it was a schoolboy, since somewhere on top of the file he said 'I hate going to school'... (The source can be found at http://www.security.nl/files/LOVE-LETTER-FOR-YOU.T XT.vbs.txt IIRC...)
They're probably talking about the chatrooms, like, the IRC ripoffs nobody should be using anyway.
I can't imagine groupchats won't work anymore.
Ah, so even that part of the original MS client is simulated correctly.
You should've stayed logged in. Microsoft did not throw anyone out, they just forbid some people to come back when they leave. ;-)

Yep, at least you can select it in menuconfig, so I suppose it works. ;-)
Tried -test7 on my iBook (Radeon 7500) last night, it worked perfectly. Didn't need to use the OpenFirmware framebuffer anymore. :-)
MatroxFB was still broken (in -test6 at least) though. But that might also be a configuration issue.
I think you should just take a look at the pics on the sites linked to in the article...
And then?
Nothing happened yet..
Well, what I think.. Why don't the TV companies just pour a bowl of hot grits down their pants?

> Red Hat will wipe out the other distros.
*cough* Don't think so. Debian is becoming more and more popular, fortunately. Try it and you'll know why.

No, I think I prefer a good old bash-assembler, don't you think? :)
Or put it in a different way: Have you been able at all to find a girl you like, and just as important: who likes you? :)

Hey things like this have been on SlashDot at least twice already. Please choose/post original things next time.
This is not the only 'free BIOS' project.
Just search on freshmeat and you'll find OpenBIOS, Free BIOS, Linux BIOS and GNU BIOS . It might be possible that even more projects like this exist...

If fp means 'fifth post', yes you're right.
But you probably meant 'first post'???

Wow... Even ordinary vegetables/potatoes can be slashdotted. Amazing, isn't it?
