Most brands of Christians believe that Peter's vision in Acts 10:9-16 (in which God declared all manner of previously unclean animals to be fit to eat) recinded the Jewish dietary laws. For most Christians, this means that there is no value in discussing what foods are okay to eat, and any arguments referencing OT dietary laws fall on deaf ears.

Little Brother is a great book (so far). Our family reads together, and both kids (f17, m13) and my wife are absolutely hooked. My kids would like to be a little nerdier than they are (and my wife is the artsy type), and they all just keep asking "is that real? Can you really do that?" It's great to find works that actually cover exactly the topics you want to cover with your kids. Hopefully Hackerteen goes in the same direction. I'll be looking for it.

Back in the mid-90s, I accidentally discovered that the video on a MicroVAX terminal (VMS) couldn't handle a 1x1 button. The screen would instantly go to static - an odd diagonal line kind of static. The only was out was a reboot.

FWIW, I stripped down the function to its most basic level, named it "Hose", and added a parameter to set the display to another terminal. "Hose term1" was a great way to get a break from long test sessions...
