  1. Re:Finally on XFree86 3.3.6 released · · Score: 1

I've seen these cards working, they really rock... (and frag of course).
Now all we need is support for X (which should "work" now) and support for framebuffers (which works, but is awfully slow and results in many bugs).

It seems NVidia finally understands that releasing their drivers for other platforms than M$ Windows will make them much more popular.
I've waited about 9 months to get any support for the NVidia Riva 128 chipset on any other platform than Windows NT, because NVidia didn't released any specs on this.
I have no bad word about the chipsets of NVidia, they are fast, not very expensive, and technologically up to date.

After hearing this, I can't say anything else but:
    Good work NVidia!

As for I can see from the specifications, this GB is looking alot alike the old Lynx portable (still remember). And I still think that Lynx did rock.
The question remains: why did the gameboy got onto the public market and not Lynx:
    1. Size. The Lynx was large, the gameboy was much more portable.
    2. Battery life. Since the color display in the Lynx uses alot of amperes, the battery life is quite short.
    3. Better games.
    4. There is no spoon

Maybe the price also made a role (I can imagine a GB mono being less expensive than a Lynx), but I can't remember any price compares.

Oh does that sound good after coding 8 days with only taking breaks at new-year and christams (and about 6 hours sleep everyday). It's true, the article is true (at least it resembles me).
What I see alot is that I'm coding a certain project, got it finished (or not) and then get back to social life, until at some time i've got a good idea and start coding again. If the idea is good enough, I won't spend time at anything else. And I know enough (real) geeks who seem to act exactly the same.

The description they give for removing linux from your hdd is like one removing a virus from your computer.
I'm really wondering if M$ will release a patch for their latest "virus-scanner" which searches all harddrives and remove Linux automagically :)

    Of course without any warning!!!

It clearly looks as if M$ is beginning the war against Linux.
By the way, they don't mention how to delete any BSD. Maybe that's too difficult for them...

True, however, my real point is: more than ever new people are joining the net. Netiquette? Never heard of it, and chances are great they will never do (if nobody does anything about this). Maybe I'm just nostalgic, however I can remember a time when every newbie was at least a little helped to join the group. Nowadays it's like carrying water to the sea (is a dutch proverb). We won't need a new OS, we need something like speech control. However, speech isn't that great irl, because you don't want to give any commands to your computer anymore in a silent room. Maybe the future computers will be connected directly with the cortex, so you only have to think to give commands.
Think about hacking a human brain...
Maybe this sounds kinda creepy, but isn't the computer an extention of your brain already? Dont you use the computer to store important information, which you otherwise would forget?
    Yes, it is creepy...

Windows NT is microkernel indeed. You can see this by the message queueing, somewhat like the SysV architecture (but NT is shipped with BSOD's).
I think a good OS should have both, for scalability and dynamical reshaping of the resouces i would advice microkernel, while a monolithical kernel tends to be more secure and also a little faster, because it doesn't have to care too much with the message overhead.
