I graduated in 2008 with a BS in CS from a large state university; probably a middle of the pack program. I got a job offer right out of school for 63.5K. -- So the figures don't seem particularly outlandish to me.
It sounds to me like they are distributing a GPL program without distributing the source code, which I believe is required regardless of whether the source is modified or not.
I'm no longer on facebook because I decided that giving corporate entities free license to store and sell my personal information just wasn't for me. That doesn't mean I'm not a sociable person; it just means I value my privacy.
Why does a webpage need to be able to screw with my scrollbar? Under what circumstance do I want the content that I'm viewing to be able to change how my viewer looks or behaves?
I'm visualizing horrible webpages that want to make my scrollbar bright pink and install 'comet cursor' on my machine...
I was under the impression you only had to pay sales tax if the sale was made in that state -- ie, the consumer resides in that state. Is this not true?
To generate a new atmosphere you would need volcanic activity (which Mars apparently has not had in a while) to start the greenhouse effect. Mars is too cold and geologically dead to develop a new Earth-like atmosphere. A collision probably wouldn't help.
In fact, it's possible that a collision was responsible for destroying a previous Earth-like atmosphere on Mars.
And you can only get that gasoline from certain stores! And that gasoline is produced and controlled by guys in turbans who drive Rolls-Royces!
Wait, what?
Then again, Tycho Brahe took Copernicus' heliocentric model and tried to revert us back to a geocentric model to appease the church, so I don't think he deserves the title either. Brahe may not have contributed much himself, but his work was extremely important. He recorded in detail the appearance and position of the planets and stars over a large period of time, which later scientists -- such as Kepler -- used his data to determine and test important concepts.
Like Kepler's laws.
If only Microsoft weren't up to 3.5 already.
I just kid. Admittedly I haven't looked in depth at any of the versions of.NET > 2.0, but they didn't really seem to have any super awesome new features that I really wanted.
Honestly, where you go to school doesn't matter. Your GPA doesn't matter. They may help you get an interview, but once you have an interview they're almost totally irrelevant; it's up to you to demonstrate that you know your stuff and are qualified for the position.

Gnome draws the desktop+icons on the root window. If you want to draw something else there, you need to disable this (there's a gconf key somewhere).

Pretty sure the placement of init scripts in /etc/init.d is a LSB requirement.

I mean, pidgin supports plugins. Is there a reason this can't be implemented as a 'let me resize the input box' plugin?
