    Was it a 'friend' or a friend? You weren't consistent with your quotes.

    There's a difference between "My 'friend' gave this to me after it 'fell off the back of a truck'." and "My friend gave this to me after it fell off the back of a truck."

    As far as Steam was concerned you received stolen property and were a part of a credit card ring. I don't use Steam so I'm only assuming you had to actually accept the gifted program and not just have it auto-magically appear on your play list. I'd accept a gift from a friend if I was expecting it but never from a 'friend'.

    First, "those who control the schools (primarily the teachers' union)". Your tinfoil hat may be on too tight.

    Then, "If public schools were committed to education, they would more readily remove those children who refuse to learn and do their best to interfere with the learning of others." Talk to teachers. They want to punt the little bastards out but the GOVERNMENT (not the teachers' union) won't let them. NCLB (and OBE before that, etc etc) and all that. Blame the DNA donors of those crotchfruit for refusing to believe their precious little snowflake isn't perfect and just to make sure they are perfect they will legally mandate that the are treated as if perfect.

    You don't see any problems with becoming reliant on receiving realtime directions while having no personal knowledge of where you are and how to get where you are going?

    The person who walked into traffic because the GPS didn't tell them they weren't in a safe area for pedestrians to waltz across the road should be a warning not an example to follow.

    I doubt 11th century muscles were swinging 30kg/60lb "battle axes". Even the Huscarl axes was nowhere close to 60lbs. (Here's a hint: they didn't fight with 20lb swords either.)

    Perhaps when every developer has his own legal team to sort out licenses, until then GPL is a virus to be avoided at all costs if there's any chance of the project going commercial. Better BSD, err, safe, than sorry.

    Apple's had the iPad in the works for a long time, they got to take their time choosing suppliers and components and buying/making deals when it was cheap. Right now everyone else is on the last minute "Me Too" concord to try to catch Apple's business class 747 that arrived last year.

    As people on this site so gleefully point out, you can't steal bits. No matter what evil corp X does with your code you still have it.

    I assume you've never heard of GPL contamination? You may have chosen not to use GPL but someone else on the project can infect the whole thing with one little bit of code.

    Depends on why you're asking. If it's to show how inferior Apple is then it is a vanishingly small portion. If it's to show how they are a threat to freedom then it is a OMG ANTITRUST MONOPOLY portion.

    It's one of those cases that demonstrates common sense isn't.

    With a little thought one realizes that pencils work by depositing particles, that are only barely attached, on the surface they are used on. Lots of lose particles in zero-G with sensitive electronics is just asking for trouble.

    Isn't (natural) carbonation part of the fermentation process? Nitrogen would probably help its shelf life by slowing the reactions that change the flavor but I doubt they 'carbonate' it with N.
