  1. Re:Many Avenues to Help on Disaster Recovery For Haiti's Cell Phone Networks · · Score: 1

Well the US of A is doing what anyone who understands the dimension of the disaster would do, we are all human beings, right?

Here in Colombia we send the best of the rescue teams we have, not bragging but those are one of the better rescue teams in the world, since we have a lot of earthqukes and other natural disasters, they are well trained IRL. Everyone is there and if something bad happens here we would be in problems but nobody is waiting for someone to say "hey look, Colombians sent all their rescue teams and they may need them soon, such a good fellas"

I saw in the news a very old lady sending 50 dollars to the red cross, she didn't look like she had lots of money, maybe a very lame pension, 50 USD it's like 28% of the minimum wage here, so, it's not about doing it for PR but because we are humans and would like to help more but people do the best they can, the US of A ARMY can do A LOT OF THINGS for Haiti and they're doing it, God bless them all but I'm sure they are not doing it for the PR.

Now, look what your nutjob Pat Robertson can say about the disaster, look on some forums and you'll see religious fanatics in whole frenzy advocating the "divine wrath"(tm) Don't worry about the PR of USA we all remember how FEMA let the food we sent to help the people in Katrina to rot in the boxes :/ but we know that was FEMA not you fellow American citizen.

I'm sorry I was a dick on that comment but you are wrong too, you may have OGG after all it's good to have options but if H264 it's going to be used as standard I know someone would make the license almost free, or at least Google can help Mozilla to deal with the license fees, in the end it's cheaper to Google (youtube) to sponsor H264 license fees for the mere sakes of helping reduce their bandwidth.

Anyway I was complaining, as was the GP, about MPEG-4 H254 AAC BEING A STANDARD ALREADY WITH HARDWARE SUPPORT on most recent GPUs so theres no point in continuing the flamewars about OGG vs. H264, I know we can hack something onto our Firefox so we can choose OGG, but for the sakes of the ALMIGHTY MARKET it's death jim, and maybe we can just concentrate on finding alternatives or bitching to the MPEG consortium so the license for the open source browsers can be gratis.

We all should be happy that in the future we can move on from Flash video, OSS got that by the hand of HTML5 but the codec it's proprietary, whatever, __you just can get it all__, it pisses me off when people act like 12 years old spoiled girls.

Note that I didn't answer to you idiot and nitwit insults, in part because I deserve them, after all we may speak the same lengua. carry on.

AFAIK vaporization temperatures for Marijuana are like ~ 300 Celsius (you might want to double check that, theres plenty of sites devoted to that) and other drugs are plain chemical compound so I guess temperatures would be higher. I don't think an ordinary eCig is designed for such uses, after all, there a whole market for "vapes"

Someone upthere mentioned the much hate Wintel has over the netbooks, this is pure PR. the "twitter socket" or the "facebook reader" gadgets will not change anything.

I think theres no obvious place in the market for a revolutionary gadget, maybe the Apple tablet? But the estimated price would not make it an appliance like the eeePC 900 was. It's personal preferences and needs after all, I'd like to buy a cool netbook but I better save and get a Lenovo x61 and have the possibility to do actual work, BUT my old smarthphone SE p900 is dying so maybe the next gadget would be an iPhone/n900/BB. Maybe the facebook reader will sell fine, but it's not a game changer like the ipod or eeePC was.
