It's the same thing I was thinking and just wanted and outside insight. by your words we can assume that Windows it's death appart from the market share. I have no doubt that Linux will made it's way to the desktop (tm) It's really too hard to get a central coordination for Linux Desktop? I mean SETTING OBJECTIVES so everyone can work for the same aim.. it's really that hard?
I wasn't talking about parties, let alone 10 parties, there should be no parties, there should be no politics.. there should be APOLITICAL Administrators: Highly trained and experienced. Each one for the subject of administration described, elected by popular vote and merits, not political machinery _ because political machinery and money support from private corps it's the first step to dump the national/peoples interest for the corporations interests. I apologize if didn't explain myself correctly. And I agree in your insights. Still I can't imagine the obviously coming "revolution" if it's not in US, generated by You or (economicaly) pushed from outside.
is this smart? calling it LEGAL torrents does not help, because it implies that any other torrent site it's per se illegal. Yeah we know it's a fact.. but average Joe will say "OMG Terrorists" bad karma to torrent sites as a whole. Why don't call it CCTorrent/ FREETORRENT etc. Bad naming, some enterprises born dead because of bad naming. and yes I know they were around before.. so relaunch with a diff name.
I find the logic here, but I've always fell more like-in-windows with Gnome than KDE.. When I use KDE it feels(tm) so different, I just use KDE 3.x with some obscure slax distro and doing the common task it's way different than Gnome. In Gnome you follow the same UI logic that Windows. If you're in your first 5 minutes of your new Linux Live Distro Experience you can figure where it's everything in Gnome... In KDE theres always a "WTF... oh!" moment for the first times. May look silly but the fact that I use Gnome over KDE it's because KDE 4.Stable is not ready [Also my screen and wireless in tree diff PC is never working out of the box with KDE] and that I HATE the jumping pointers. and I agree Gnome it's funky and bloated, but it's a painless way to start up.. KDE it's superior and I look forward to the day I'll make the jump. my 2cp
I grew tired of watching local and cable TV [cable and Satellite have the same channels so both fall into the same category here] Mostly because of the few ones that I used to see went to heck:
History Chanel: Continuously rewriting the history and portraying the American history as the only one as if the rest of the word haven't existed for the past 5000 years or so.
Discovery Channel: We talk about science, and how science can be useful on things like concluding that Jesus does not even existed or simulating mombo-wombo-natural disasters that will fuck your life style, be afraid, be very afraid, because if we can simulate it it's gonna happen!
MTV: Fuck yeah we teach your clueless teenagers to be docile, retarded and weak, we failed in previously generation because we promoted guts and resistance against the establishment-whatever, now with our contents just leave them alone with something sharp and a my chemical romance lyric written on a paper bag, they'll know what to do.
I can get going and going wit all the other basic channels but I hope you get the idea. The focus and objectives of every channel comes very close against common sense and rationality, and no, am not a conservative kind of person or a freakin moral fundamentalist I'm all against that.
I for one prefer to stream or btorrent my stuff: House, Weeds, Southpark, Family Guy, I'm a lite drama - comedia type. I just watch like 40 minutes of "tv" in a whole day. Besides live sports or really important local news.. I don't see myself buying a TV if I can't connect it to the PC and see my stuff. I really dislike TV - TV is DYING AT LAST how can I help to making it happen asap?? oh yeah the internet./rant
People who needs a Linux version that works (tm) so you pay for not having to learn to use the console of avoiding "kernel panic's" and codecs and Win like stuff, AFAIK. More like what Ubuntu does now, just that Ubuntu sells support not the distro itself. But as Linux is getting better theres no market for a non free distro that does what free distro do equally or even better. The target it's people or business that want to save the hassle to deal with eventual Linux issues, something that work out of the box.
How nice would be an American Revolution Part II, I mean, Like the French Revolution as actually America has great influence in the political world scene, I can say that Politics as we know it [The GW Bush Mod V2.0] get easily adopted outside American borders. If any third world leader is a narc, or a thug still White House tells the world that he's a God send gift for the democracy and popular interests and that the TW Country is doing fine when the true is that the county it's fucked up.
I know and hope that the next revolution will be there, I don't see it close as most of the people still numb, but when it happens, the conclusion will be that the political model will no longer be acceptable, I'll go for a multi representative government.. say 10 people that have the leadership 10 people with different backgrounds and insights. And special groups (Departments) of every socio economic aspect of the country administration: health, economy, education, kids etc..thats my 2cents
I'd only trust an addon that lets me upload my info (passwords) to my own server and encrypted while you're there. Foxmarks allow you to do that, just the bookmarks, I use FM in 3 Pc and I have nothing to whine about, well, In FF3 you have to allow the cookie from foxmarks.com, thats all. I store the db in the foxmarks service, If they start to offer password sync I'll take my info to my server but I still will be using foxmarks it's very nice.
Thats interesting and I have an hypothetical question for you:
Being the case that Microsoft applies a new business model and gives away Windows for free/"free" JUST if you buy the Office suite.. I mean, buy Office 2011 and get Windows 7 for free, Would you buy it and use it?
If Windows turns Open Source, can Linux use parts of the Windows kernel to patch hardware issues? Is this possible?
So which is the best way to understand the kernel (basically How Linux works) for someone that starts from scratch? Any guide, e-book, tool anyone would like to recommend me?
That people and their beloved rigs.. as You know I still play Q2 and I play with a 7 button generic optical mouse, the mm keyboard that came with the box, a Fx5200 and a wooping 90 ping when fast.. and I kick ass on a daily basis on a very fast mod. I call gaming rigs and accessories in the same market segment as Monster Cables. The only thing I would upgrade if for a G keyboard as having 15 configurable keys can cover almost all repetitive task of any design/coding app, But I wouldn't use them for gaming as I don't use WASD kb configuration:)
Gotta admit that this device has some potential, If you can hack it to control the mouse or if you use it in other kind of software as Media Players. Maybe in 3 years will be ready for competitive gaming.. but the need to focus on finding the way to control mouse movement not keyboard, Mouse can benefit way too more from fast neural response.. after all, Whats more critical in FPS the mouse or the keyboard? most people bind everything critical to their mouse.

I always have wondered if theres any way to stop that. 4th power should be accountable for misleading people intelligence. How about supporting apps like CorelDRAW and the other from CS Suite like FLASH Illustrator, InDesign and Related. I'm more concerned about CorelDRAW. Yes, I know CorelDRAW is not so popular in the US but it's vastly used in third world in places like Brasil, india etc and it's per se a standard in design here. Unfortunately CorelDRAW relies too much in IE engine; Try upgrading to IE7 after you install CDX3, not only You have to reactivate your copy, but if you're not in mood of applying the SP's your CDX3 will be useless, It' will crash even creating a new document, and BTW and FYI If you apply the SP's you rendering performance will be hindered [NP I'm flaming Corel in that one]
Most people can survive with Photoshop and CorelDRAW my question is: Is there any hope to see support for CorelDRAW (X3/X4)and FLASH in WINE?
I don't have numbers but Design Community sure have more people than Gaming Community, people that relies heavily in uptime, people that are actually doing work in there.. work that you have to show to your clients, and clients that get very interested when they see their brochures inside some neatly customized compiz environment, Clients that ask: "What windows is that?" and you know the rest of the story.
Thats it! I'll never try WoW, I was thinking in giving it a try but when a game tries so desperately to get on to your life you sure know It can be really addictive. Is this just by the monthly fee? Theres is no other way of playing? Set your own server? On a PIII machine like good old Quake2? Guess I'll never quit on Q2. --
More on topic, I agree that kids get concerned by parents staring at a monitor, even my daughter gets mad at me when I start to play or I'm working, She tries to get my attention and she's just 1yo, Sure they know or they can associate the fact that you're "face to face" = giving attention to something that is not even a tall-speaking-hugging-something-daddy, on the most basic sense as for a 1yo girl.
If you have kids, and you can't just quit on gaming... at least bring them to the clan:) Make them part of it and teach them that it's just a game and that you like to play too, as she. Kids need to understand that their parents need time for themselves otherwise you're just raising basement dwellers.
I agree with you and I have seen this kind of input all around: Ubuntu 8.04 it's great on old hardware, specially laptops.. so, getting on topic, An Ubuntu release for PID's/NETBooks should be a killer. Anyone know If this release works on old laptops or it's just intended for NEW specific machines?
Maybe that it's what I like about Ubuntu, it's Linux, it's mostly FOSS but they manage to do it in a commercial and asertive way, I mean, they release specific version that works on a variety of platforms, it's easy on Joe Beigebox and teaches to develop the community way of thinking, so you know somewhere on the intertubes theres an answer or some dude ready to help, also it teaches you that computing it's way more than start button and Ctrl+Z.
Don't bash Ubuntu for being so user friendly or the "bloat" in the GUI.. think that most of the people starting on Ubuntu will move forward to another distros as they advance in their knowledge, someday I will make the step to Slackware I love it, but I just don't feel ready, but hey! I'm loving learning this stuff as many people out there. No one of them are 1337s, maybe some will become.. lend a hand to the little brothers, you just don't know what ta13nts are coming in the way.
