  1. You mean, like the patriot act? on U.S. House Says the Internet is Terrorist Threat · · Score: 0

No need to get worked over it today, only get worked up over it when it REALLY is used against americans, and not used to get 'turrorists'.

This bill will be put into place, and then you'll have the 'Law OBEYERS' (tm), start their ranting threads about "You should obey the law, failure to do so is criminal. Criminals shouldn't have rights, yada yada yada".

You know, like the ones where people are complaining about 'aliens', starting the thread off with 'Illegal aliens are criminals....'.

They're only criminal because some third party marginalized their actions and labelled it 'illegal'.

This bill will do the same, it will be the basis for marginalizing the actions of those who wish to have privacy on the internet. It will be the basis for marginalizing the actions of those who organize decent against those currently in power.

It will all be done with the 'claim of protecting us against terrorists'. "To keep us safe".

I don't know if this outage was related to the cisco, issue, but its just another data point.

It's the nature of economics. A diferent entity with a greater labor source (and cheaper), can produce greater quantities of product at a lower 'per unit' cost.

It's becoming cheaper and easier to back up data using another drive.

Something that does worry me, though, how to use a second drive as a backup, yet be able to to disconnect it, so that something bad doesn't happen to it. (e.g. disconnect the drive, without having to reboot).

Doesn't do much good to mirror everything over to the 2nd disc, only to have your favorite IE exploit delete everything on your harddrive (and mirror)

I believe the evidence of BBC giving only half the story can be found of their coverage of support for W Bush, and a rather lack luster coverage of protests from other world leaders.

Granted, this doesn't have much to do with MS and software, but it has a great deal to do with the BBC providing only 'half' of the information.

Echostar sends the bills for starband, until likely until your 1 year is up. Echostar and starband have had lawsuits against each other. Echostar refused to give the client list of starband customers over to starband for direct billing.

Though, my 1 year with starband is almost up. I only have a PVR 501, and I'm out in Ironto (between blacksburg VA and roanoke VA). I'd be very much interested in any way to get another Internet Connection. Or to do cool things with my PVR 501. Last I checked, it was not possible to get a 721 PVR standalone (e.g. if you're already a dish customer, you're out of luck).

Please do not let the Dish/Direct TV destroy things. Unfortunately, based on the actions between dish and starband, and the very misleading advertisements that Dish has been putting on their systems trying to get folks to support the merge, I fear what Dish (e.g. echostar) will do . . .

On a side note, Gilat ( the maker of the starband modem technology, is selling around the 50 cents to 80 cents range . . .)
