Such claims are non-scientific, foolish and, may I say it, stupid. The Global Warming Cabal has attempted to and, has fairly successfully, yelled down, victimized, pilloried and witch-hunted anyone who does not swallow the cool-aid of AGW. There are not only many, many, scientists, but many others as well, who are, for some reason, able to see that the AGW hypothesis is goofy and tragically flawed. These people, of whom I am one, for some reason have managed to maintain their sanity in an insane world. Remember the devastation caused to many fellow humans by the thoroughly discredited ideas and proponents of society being devastated by witchcraft and devil worship, or by Satanically-influenced child abuse, or even by an epidemic of deadly cholesterol caused by eating eggs, or by 'recovered' memories of long past sexual exploitation. AGW and these other witch hunts are on a par, but the longest lasting delusion of AGW wins the anti-prize.
Whether or not one supports or likes Donald Trump, the announced efforts and intentions of the Anonymous Collective is reminiscent of the Brownshirts of the German Nazi party. A fair and proper interpretation of US constitutional protections against unwarranted state/police attacks on civil liberties should have resulted in the lower court's judgement being approved, not set aside. My proposal is to amend the constitution to require that 5 percent of politicians and bureaucrats be fired every 4 years, and only where absolutely necessary for the continued functioning of essential services, be replaced. Another improvement would be to strengthen freedom of information laws and compliance requirements by imposing substantial penalties, including criminal prosecution, fines and imprisonment, in the worst cases, as well as subjecting them to court actions for punitive damages, brought as either suits by individuals and class action suits, for failure to disclose information within a reasonable time. A further improvement would be to make politicians in office, especially heads of government departments, governors, presidents, and prime ministers, and their chief advisors, personally liable to those harmed, for corruption under their watches, and for making dishonest or stupid decisions, including enacting laws, that harm people, businesses and classes.
The climate change fanatics are jumping with glee over revelations that Lomborg may have either been deceptive or over-stated his case, however, this takes nothing away from the revelations of fraud and deceit revealed by the Climategate email disclosures, the false claims of Himalyan glacier meltdowns and other non-scientific and purely political chicaneries of the fanatics, revealing their house of cards and the lack of scientific reliability of their claims. It is a crap shoot whether or not you get a "correct" judgment, as there are many possible verdicts, based not only on the unique facts of any case, but the individual judge's view of reality and his/her basic prejudices. People way too often think that there is such a thing as objective justice. This is complete fantasy. There is no objective justice. There is only the sausage squeezed out of the "justice" machine in each case. Of course, the student's first amendment [free speech] rights were at issue in this case, but if the individual judge is sympathetic with the person or group being criticized or attacked, then the judgment is often twisted to favour the so-called victim, and if the judge is sympathetic with the voicer of the criticism, then the judgment is often twisted to favour the critic. Humans are most often incapable of being truly objective, and, in my experience as a long-practising lawyer and a judge, I have learned that lesson in spades. Dream on, lovers of justice.
