Like Films and games I suspect the physical materials of a book are the cheapest part of the creation of a book so why do you think you deserve a significant discount for having removed the cheapest part?
I don't agree with their tactics but there are plenty of things law enforcement can legally do that normal people can't under certain circumstances so why would hacking be different?
All the old protocols like email and newsgroups are completely open and flexible allowing anyone to build the client they want. No one invests in that anymore. Everyone wants to lock you in. That's why we have a billion ways to message people rather than everyone using a single protocol like jabber.
So good luck on getting a new something new that helps the consumer in anyway.
Not as many but WWDC is all about showing off their goods and making "journalists" promote their stuff. Apple are more secretive but they still operate like the others. Just on a different scale.
But it also means you shouldn't waste money because no matter how well you work your budget can get cut significantly if people feel you pissing your cash away. Not that it matters too much but NPR and PBS are not the same company though both are linked to the CPB who provide funds to both as well as others. And you'll notice NPR gets 40% of its funds from individuals donating. They're quite vulnerable from people getting put off from thinking they're wasting money.
But also, I should say that I think the whole mobile app thing is silly. It should be a mobile site for all devices. Apps as a whole are mostly pointless unless you're making a game. Support and development would be cheaper for anyone if they did their app as a web app.
You're right, LIbre/Open Office do not fit into the current way a lot of business work. But it shouldn't be that way. You shouldn't be tied to Libre/Open office either. There really isn't a reason to tie yourself to anything but I think companies will continue to do that because unfortunately business decisions are made by managers that like to spend money and if you want to do that you only have a few choices like IBM,Microsoft or Oracle depending on the situation.
Open source is still mostly a thing for small business and start-ups where companies can't base their decisions based on price and yeah, open source projects do need to appeal to more shallow people and shine up their products a bit too.
I can imagine somewhere along the line someone will get butt hurt about something and they'll be forced to use proprietary drivers. Shuttleworth can hope all he wants but he's in no position to bully people into doing what he wants.
While the UK test is a bit harder than the US the problem is most people can barely handle driving as it is without distractions and especially one right in your face that allows you to your social media updates. I only just saw an SUV driving run into a stationary car the other day. Apparently the non-moving car with its break lights or the 4 red lights didn't weren't visible.
If people want to be treated like fully capable and professional drives they should act like it.
Exactly, you can't grow forever and the idea that you must grow each and every quarter is ridiculous. Most investors are morons but it would be nice if someone in the media or even school would teach people to realise it's a moronic mentality.
Bill Gates is still the chairman. You act like he has nothing to do with it. Maybe they're his stupid ideas and Balmer just eats them up because Gate's is the nerd and Balmer is the brodude.
Google supposedly hires the best of the best but they seem to make more than a couple school boy errors. So do they hire incompetent people or are they doing this for the NSA? I think I know what I'd pick.
The growth doesn't mean anything. You can grow in a shrinking market if you're new. The idea of having to be on all the time and having google try to lock my data into their services which may or may not disappear or be the same any time in the future is not appealing to me. It's even less appealing to hand my data over to a company in bed with the NSA which it would appear Google are.
It's not like Reader was the only thing they've killed. They'll kill anything they deem to not be profitable or which gets in the way of something else, like Google+. It's not that far out to assume they'll, at some point, decide Chromebooks are redundant because of Android.

iOS 6 or the new mac?

They're a non-profit that has to beg for money every year. If it's so easy I'm sure they'll do it if you volunteer to develop and support it.
Sorry but Android is a fragmented mess. Your fanboyism makes you blind to it but it's true.

Pre-launch access is something everyone gives. How do you think we get previews? That's a really poor justification even for a fanboy.
That's not been my experience with Excel. It's down right awful given a document of any real size.
prove it.
It won't have a long life at all so why pay a premium for this turd?
If you can't figure out LIbre Office you shouldn't have your job. Hating any change is just being an evolutionary inferior waste on society.
I refuse to use Windows phone but it looks like they're stock going up now after the slump.
I've seem it since the 80's in rural areas of PA.

Don't hire stupid developers that would be adding a fuck ton of features during the 6 week period.
Not really, Firefox performance is much better. Chrome stagnated because there is only so much you can do to improve JS.
