Naturally the kid should be able to communicate on a certain level beforehand. That just goes without saying.

Giving a kid a phone and allowing them to text when they're not capable of communicating is just a sign of bad parenting because it makes no sense.

  2. Any age is fine as long as parents do their job on Texting Toddlers, How Young is Too Young? · · Score: 4, Insightful

It's not the technology that's the problem. As with anything it's lazy parenting and the technology being used to replace something a parent should be doing. With proper parenting, a child learning how to text will have a head start over his friends and not being a spoiled little twat.

In most instances that is true but sometimes improvements in some areas have knock on effects on other areas.

For instance my stereo receiver is older than me (from the early 70's), it's weighs about as much as a car and it's not necessarily pretty since it's got the old wood and silver design but it's nearly invincible and has outlasted newer components and will keep going

In some ways you could say it's inferior in other ways it's not. In general I would say there is a trend for manufacturers not to care as much about a unit having a long life and instead improve things by just adding in more features. Hardware with a long life helps create a used market and, like software publishers, they don't to compete against their own products being resold.

But the hardware companies, especially MS won't. Can you imagine MS allowing those using the competition's system with it's free internet service being allowed to play against paying subscribers? At worst the graphics on the PS3 and 360 are the same so Madden on he PS3 and 360 are effectively the same.

Why would anyone buy the system that makes you pay to get online with no web browser, charges through the roof for wifi, doesn't give you an HDMI cable, doesn't play both DVD and blu-ray movies, charges you for add-ons that are free on the PC and PS3 and charges you extortionate amounts for proprietary hard-drive add-ons?

There is no way in hell EA would have a chance at making 360 and PS3 games interoperable.
